Forza 2 reaches 60fps

Many people were dissapointed at Forza 2 for getting delayed from it’s original release date of the rather vague “holiday season”, but it seems it has been worthwhile, as the team behind the game have now managed to at least get the game up to 60fps.

Che Chou is the community manager for the game, and he had this to say:

“Because Forza 2 is pushing so many polygons and next-gen effects, the team has had a heck of a time pushing the engine to run the game at a locked, butter-smooth, 60 fps. Although games at a consistent v-sync’ed 30 fps look and play great (see also: PGR3), doubling the framerate makes all the difference in the world,” says Chou. “It’s still too early to tell what may or may not have to be changed/tweaked in order to maintain 60 fps — hopefully nothing — as far as we’re concerned.”

So at least the delay has paid off. You will have to wait until Spring to get your hands on the game though. That’s assuming that there are no further delays of course. Chou did not say when more details of the game would be announced, but things are moving along. Let’s hope they meet the Spring deadline to keep the Xbox community happy!

Sounds good to me. I sure hope they realize that Gears have changed everything by setting the standard for next-gen.
I’m expecting all MS games to push this system to the max especially with the franchise titles like Forza 2.

hehe 60fps and over 300fps of physics calcs… this game is shaping up to be unbelievable… if they can keep the polys up, put some nice effects and grass and growd effects the game stands to be a sure fire winner… i just really hope they push the limits to the MAX!

I sure hope they dont keep it linear like PGR3. I played TDU first and then played PGR3. I hated every single minute I played of that game. I love the openness of TDU and if Forza goes open ll buy it, If they go linear…..their loss.

it will go down the more linear route, just because an open world wouldn’t suit this type of game - it’s not mean’t to be street racing like TD:U

If the controls are anything like Forza 1 you can’t compare it to PGR3 or TDU anyway… Forza is much more of a simulation where you can’t get away with driving like an idiot. Not that I’m saying that you do that :)

60FPS ftw

I can live with the delay, as long as it delivers in the end that is. Would be sweet if they’re able to pull off a solid 60fps without giving up on the details department.
