New Call of Duty 4 details surface
Treyarch’s Call of Duty 3 has only been in stores for little over a week but fresh details for the sequel are already leaking in. We already knew that the next installment in the franchise was under development by Infinity Ward, the developers of the first two Call of Duty games. However, Amped IGO received some fresh new bits of info from a source close to IW.
Call of Duty 3
First of, Amped IGO breaks the news that Call of Duty 4 is breaking away from the World War II time frame of the first 3 games. Call of Duty 4 will bring the hectic war experience from the first games to a present day setting, although it’s unknown where CoD4 would be set exactly. The source hints at a setting in the middle-east.
Amped IGO also reports on some interesting technical achievements. Their source reports that the hitpoints have been massively increased.
The source compared Call of Duty 4’s technical achievements to other games saying that while most shooters have two or three critical points on the head, Call of Duty 4 has 16, saying that you can shoot the side of an opponent’s helmet to make it spin on their head, or knock the helmet clean off. Supposedly you will even be able to shoot an enemy’s ear off.
Sounds good right? Well chances are you can shoot off ears in 54 player multiplayer matches. IW has been testing with 54 players online although the final number could end up lower because we’ve had more than enough lag issues with the earlier games in the franchise.
To top it all off IGO debunks a previous rumor that CoD4 would skip consoles this time around. Unlike Call of Duty 3, CoD4 is set for PC and consoles.
Activision declined to confirm or deny these rumors when Amped IGO asked them to but they all sound pretty plausible. Check back here for more CoD4 info as it comes in.
Will be nice to see Infinity Ward move this franchise on a little. CoD3 looks nice but is perhaps not different enough to the previous games for my tastes.

omg cod 3 is kinda not that good cause why the heck are the guns polished??? but the 24 player matches are kool the graphics got a tiny bit worse(to me) and gow owns this i hope cod4 does not have shiny guns cause in real war they are not thats why cod2 is still way better

I initially bought CoD3 last week to tide me over ’till GoW and was plaesantly surprised.. The MP this time around is really cool, 24 player matches, huge and gorgeous maps, no lag and awesome gamemodes (war, HQ, CTF and regular Team deatmatches). It’s just that the ranked matches are a bit buggy ATM, but I’ve been playing this game nonstop since I got last week! Recommended!

The CoD franchise really needs a different setting, but why a modern middle eastern campaign? If you look at the foilage in some of the MP maps of CoD3 I think a Vietnam themed game is the way to go! (At least we’ll have a decent Vietnam game for a change..)
got it last night after friends telling me how good it is (GOD3). I played COD2 but was waiting for GOW, i’m glad i got it now tho!.. offers a different feel…

Well i dont know about anyone else but I have yet to get any lag in COD3, even in full 12v12 games

Treyarch did an amazing job on improving an already great title. Perhaps you should stop being so narrowminded and try it out.
Perhaps you should consider that I have tried the game out. Perhaps you should consider all the bugs in the game online. Perhaps you should consider the padding out of of the over use of video in the single player game. Perhaps you should consider they also made the atrocious big red one. Perhaps you should consider COD 3 is a step BACK graphically. Perhaps you should consider some people have a different opinion than yours, and perhaps you should think a little more before branding someone else as narrow minded. Treyarch produced rubbish with the big red one, and treyarch have taken a step back with COD 3. I enjoyed COD and COD 2. Unfortunately, COD 3 was given to the obviously ‘CHEAPEST’ development team, not the best development team.

Graphically the game is a modified and more fluid version this time around. Its a much more dense and realistic world.

The hillarious side of the “Call of Duty” series is that Americans have joined the WW2 for the last 2 years only. Why replay that Normandy landing (ok, yes and Paris and Africa) over and over when there were huge (and much more important to the war outcome) battles in Russia?

holloguts have u played CoD3 graphically its so much better than 2 even to the detail of the guns having engravings i.e names of rifle’s or the number counters on the sights, it doesnts move on a great deal from CoD2 game mechanics but it adds things to the fray like cooking off grenades and being able 2 throw back enemy grenades it plays really well and the multiplayer outstrips CoD2’s by a mile it feels crisper and cleaner than Cod2 and i am very impressed by what treyarch have done they have listened 2 all the complaints of the big red one and its a great game…. CoD4 in the middle east the gulf war?, a stupid war which achieved nothing in the long run only the deaths of soliders mainly by friendly fire!!! The only decent middle east based game Desert Strike on the Mega Drive FACT

I’m American. Born and raised in beautiful Illinois. I love a lot of things about America, but unlike most Americans, I actually give the rest of the world a chance (Most Americans think America is the shit, but have never been out of the country). I’ve been to 11 countries, and right now I live in a completely different one. I don’t “hate” America, but I’m not going to live the rest of my life their. After college I’ll probably move to Europe. Belgium perhaps, or Switzerland. I really liked those when I visited there. America is seriously a nice place to live guys, all this stuff about crime is mainly only in the big cities and such, if you just live in a decent sized town it’s really kick ass. Japan beats America’s ass silly in a lot of areas though. For one, the people in Japan are so much more polite than Americans, who have a big “fuck you, every man for himself” attitude. Thats one thing I don’t like about America, most people have no respect, and 3/4th’s of the country is retarded.
COD4 will be good, no doubt. Infinity Ward is a solid developer. I can’t wait to play COD3.

COD3 is a good game the only thing that i dont like in the game is it seems like they are tryin to push the whole character thing on you…and it doesnt have the feel that COD 1 and 2 had
COD3 multiplayer is a blast. They need to add more servers or fix the problem with joining games though. Frustrating I tried for about 30 minutes last night to get into a game before it finally did.

CoD4: Modern Warfare as far as I know has not been confirmed. Theres no real evidence yet other than rumors and no genuine game shot pics are around.
