Defender now available
If you have been waiting anxiously for Defender to appear on the Marketplace, I can confirm that it is now up for most regions. It went up late last night (or early this morning for those in GMT +1), and costs 400 MS Points.
The demo weighs in at 30.06MB, and features, rather unsurprisingly, a single player mode, and Xbox Live Multiplayer for up to two people.
Sadly, if you are reading this and live in Germany, Japan or Korea, you cannot currently access the game. Why I don’t know, but you may need a work around account if you really want to go back in time.
The game was announced yesterday but was not put up at the usual time due to a few certification issues, but all has noe been rectified, obviously.

ummm Sweet?¿? wheres the NEW ips?
That’s great, +20 years back here i come !
That pic is wrong though they’ve slightly updated the graphics from the original. I think I’m paying the 400 pts after playing the demo. How’s the multiplayer co-op?
could do with a new picture…
The game’s alright, there aren’t that many retro/arcade games that I like though.
Stuff like Pacman, (the original) Outrun, Donkey Kong, Mario etc
Is that screen how the game looks like because its not very colourfull…
No they added some backgrounds and enhanced the graphics somewhat. Not much but a little.
20 years ago, that was Eye candy.
Defender was never really about eye-candy - it was about having a deeper game (than Invaders, Asteroids, etc) with multiple objectives and penalties for not observing them.
It also had complex controls (for an arcade game) so took longer to master than your average game.
Of course, it’s hard to imagine how complex the controls were, now that we have the nice 360 controller instead of the arcade cabinet’s bewildering array of separate buttons!
I’m actually quite impressed with this port of Defender and like the fact that the 360 opens up gaming to a wider age group with different tastes than say the Wii and PS3, which are predominantly aimed at a younger audience.
