Unreadable Text in Lost Planet

Apparently the developers over at Capcom didn’t get the memo. It looks like Lost Planet suffers from the same small text issues that Dead Rising has.At least this time it’s not going to make playing the game unnecessarily difficult

The guys over at Angry-Gamer.net have discovered that the Lost Planet multiplayer has issues with readable text. What looks like some manner of scoreboard on the left side of the screen looks to be unreadable, although the rest of the text on the screen looks fine.

So after Capcom refused to release a patch for Dead Rising it looks like they haven’t even bothered to fix an unreleased title with the same issue. According to Angry-Gamer.net, this time around the text issue affects both HDTVs and SDTVs. Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi spoke about the issue with Dead Rising and whether or not it would translate to their new title and said it wasn’t their fault, it was due to Microsoft’s standards. I honestly don’t buy this as I haven’t played any other game on the 360 that has had the same kind of issue. Lost Planet has gone from a game that I was eagerly anticipating to one that I will probably pass over. Hopefully this will be fixed by the time that the game launches in early 2007, or I’m sure Capcom will have their inboxes flooded with angry emails yet again.

The demo is awesome, just like the other demo but that text is horrible.

Dude, just because of a leaderboard you can’t read, and your name is highlighted in green anyway, you’re not going to get it? Whoa.

My view of it is this, if they won’t even bother to fix something small like this, what happens when there is an actual problem with the game. Now if they fix it, I’ll have no qualms about picking it up.

Well I dunno about you but i stopped playing dead rising because of this small writing, I didn’t no what was goin on half the time. It was the small writing that made Dead Rising a disappointment for me

You might as well stop playing modern video games then. There are more significant and less tolerable problems in all sorts of games across all platforms: PGR3 and Online Career mode, DOAX2 and the disappearing volleyball, all the Ghost Recon games and their clunky matchmaking(Ubisoft STILL hasn’t seen fit to have the devs come up with something more functional). Capcom and their unreadable text is another item to add to the growing list, but Lost Planet is still a great looking game with a solid story and better than average production values.

While this is a valid point, I see one major difference with this case. Capcom knew there was a problem with the text in Dead Rising and didn’t bother to change it(yet) for this game. The other instances you cited were all contained in one game.

“The small text will be taken care of before shipping to press .”

Sounds good!

Yeah except for the fact that it’s ‘BIG POPA PIMP’ looking to get banned instead of an actual Capcom rep.

i mean think bout Dead Rising..u had to have BIG HDTV to read that text..and its worse that u have to read text if u want perfect ending..i hope they fix this shit cause it makes almost impossible to do objectives

I completed Dead Rising 3 times on a 32″ PAL 576i CRT, and now another time on a 37″ 1080i LCD. Yes, obviously the text is far better readable on the LCD, but it was more than doable on the CRT as well.

It can be fixed, luckily since it’s only a demo.

I have a standard def TV, and I didn’t really have that much of a problem reading the text on DR. And compared to some HDTV’s, mine is only a 32″ Widescreen TV.

yo son of la, i can see that you think that it is me that is impersonating you, but it is not.

It’s that BIG POPPA PIMP dipshit, he’ll be facing a ban as soon as Curry wakes up.

Won’t be buying it anyway…
I can just about read most of the text on my SDTV

They should have learned something from Dead Rising!

wrong, its working flawlessly on my HDTV, now you poor things, buy yourself an HDTV or sleep tight.

indeed i say it over and over again.. if you buyed a next gen console.. then you need to have a HDtv to have all the next gen experiences

Comment by Steve on 2006-11-28 01:09:18 | Reply

You call being able to read text a next gen experience. What an idiot. Don’t know about you but I could read text on my SDTV when I played xbox and PS2 so its not really next gen.

the small text is part of the HD future because of the mush bigger tv’s.. nothing more so yes part of next gen

And just for the record, the text in Dead Rising is easily readable on my display(42″ Samsung DLP, 720p native output). It has to be a compatibility problem with certain sets/resolutions. Different manufacturer’s CRTs/displays apply slightly different scaling and filtering methods to the source image. Capcom wasn’t able to test everything. Still their fault, but it would explain the two camps of people with and without problems.

ever since i saw rainbow six this game lost planet didn’t look that great anymore but the graphics are great!(i would always like to pick up this game anyway though)
