The Wireless Headset forgets the UK

Despite some recent setbacks, many of you were probably looking forward to getting a nice new wireless headset pretty soon. Whilst most of you should be fine if you can avoid those voice quality issues, those of us in the UK may not be so lucky.

The wireless headset has been known to have some problems which Microsoft have said they should fix sometime (let us hope that is a sooner rather than a later) but for those of you in the UK there is a bigger problem. Your plug socket. Microsoft have made these mistakes before but you think they might have noticed that we still have our own currency over here and we might just have own own plug format that is slightly less deadly than a mere 2 point connection. Shipping some of the wireless headsets in the UK with a European plug adapter is a little - silly. Oh well.

You can fix this problem with a ÂŁ2 adapter from any hardware shop but still, it never should have happened in the first place. Hopefully Microsoft will fix this issue in the other batches of headsets, or we think they might find many people returning them.

The wireless headset has major issues as it is, dunno what the problem was with the hardware on this one. Theres a lot of bad press at the moment, and this will just add more :(

what the hell? how can a multi billion pound organisation, with offices in the country mind, make such a cock up!?

mine says made in china… does that help?

heh

Hmm, I got mine last week and it came with the correct adaptor socket. Not sure what the prob is there. My mate down the road also has the correct socket and he purchased his from town today.

Uk, shouldn’t fuck around and get and use the standart of eu.

Actually it should be the other way about, our plugs have an extra pin as a safety feature to stop (well at least slow down) people from sticking something into the live parts of the socket.

Actually, Europe (or at least the majority of it) uses two type of plugs. one with three connectors (two pins, one hole) and also this one with just two pins, which is used for lower voltage devices. However all sockets fit both plugs. UK plugs suck, especially with that silly fuse.

Yes but with Europe you do have to deal with added disadvantage of the French. Stick your EU up yer arse.

quality, a great answer!

I wonder if the guy who submitted that to Kotaku imported it. I hope so, because I’m going to order my wireless headset soon and I sure as hell want to be able to use it.

Read the same story on Kotaku, based on the comments many others in the UK got the right adapter with their headset. Likely the store he bought this from was from a store that had imported it in from another region of Europe that uses the round prongs.

The reports I heard was from people buying from Currys or Comet, so no chance of it being and import model

Damn it. Means I’ll need to go buy an adapter.

Mine (from Amazon) is fine.

Pfft, since when did yu have to spend money to change the socket?

Just find a 3pin UK plug/take it from an old applicance and rewire it, takes about 2 minutes…

The one I bought is junk. I got yelled at every match I went into. Caused a bunch of static that only others could hear.

If you look at my review on http://kainzy.org/reviews...-wireless-headset-review/
You’ll see a pic of the plug, which is a standard Uk plug.

heres an old thread on here about the plug. Im in the UK and mentioned how to get the ÂŁ2 plug that clips straight on once you take the jap or us changable plug off:

Check out Maplin’s online store. They should easily have one, and are good for deliveries.

I live in the uk and mine came with the correct 3 pin plug. Also my m8 purchased from blockbuster vides yesterday and his has a 3 pin plug aswell.

“we might just have own own plug format ”
Editors asleep at the wheel?!
Tighten it up boys 2 mistakes in as many days.
The Headset is very sexy though.

Now I feel quite lucky as I’m in the UK, ordered the headset from www.play.com and had it turn up early, it came with the correct plug and I’ve not experienced any of the problems detailed on the forums… so think I’ll pay the “stupid tax” tonight (buy a lottery ticket)

Probably one shipment got mixed up. Someone at Ownage.nl got the Brittish 3-pin-plug with his headset, which he bought at a Dutch E-plaza

OK sounds like a sack of kack to me - I have just got back from Hong Kong, 2 weeks ago, where I bought the Hong Kong version of the wireless headset and it comes with a bog standard UK style ac adaptor and 3 pin plug. As HK uses exactly the same voltage and plugs as the UK. What’s the problem?

I own the 360. I have had lock ups, overheats, contoller issues, wireless headset disconnects and stupid people at 1-800-4myxbox to talk to. The bottom line QUIT FUCKING AROUND MICROSOFT AND GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER!!!

Comment by Xbox on 2006-11-29 20:08:31 | Reply

just to confirm the UK wireless adapater DOES come with a UK plug. contrary to some sites commentary, customers who receive a EURO plug are buying a EURO version of the headset, which is being naughtly shipped in. UK product contains UK plug.

FYI - I am constantly told to unplug my headset because of the feedback so I called XBOX.

I bought the headset on 11/01/06 at Gamestop and they do not take back opened merchandise after 14 days, so I called 1-800-4-MY- XBOX and after telling them that I wasn’t using a wireless phone or microwaving food and that crap, I asked to talk to a supervisor. They told me they only back up what comes in the 360 console bundles and that I need to deal with the retailer. I told “Supervisor” Jeff 6037 that the store won’t take it back and he said he could not help me. I then said “So I have a $60 paper weight” and he said “yes”. So Microsoft doesn’t back their products unless it comes in the system bundle?

Has anyone ever encountered this? What do you think I should do about this bull**it?

FYI - I do have the service contract, but that only covers the system bundle.

Hmmmm… Slander post… Nice touch.

Maybe try reading over your WARRANTY and SERVICE CONTRACT information before slandering a supervisor and making it seem like he did something wrong, hmmm??
