Halo 3 commercial and Euro beta details

We told you about the Halo 3 beta program, we told you about the upcoming commercial. Although it seemed as usual at first that European gamers were going to be left out in the cold again for both, we’ve got the commercial right here, and there are actually ways to get in the beta outside the US. Just don’t expect that you can just sign up like US residents, that would be way too easy…

First up, here’s the commercial that was aired yesterday during ESPN Monday Night Football, showing Master Chief getting ready for action under a starry night:

Feel like playing the game already? If you’re European, better be quick. Instead of opening registration up to everybody Microsoft decided to let XCN sites distribute a limited number of positions. Each and every one of them can hand them out as they see fit, which usually means being one of the first to comment on a certain article. Looking for a spare spot? This is the full list of participating sites:

Thanks to the 2 zillion people who submitted this news, can’t thank all of you individually but keep up the good work!

Yeah, that trailer rocked hard. I found it hard to believe that those kids at the beggining were CGI.

They’re not, are they? Bungie said this was a mix of CGI and live action. I assumed that they were the live action bit, what else could it be?

nice cgi but i think we all want to see some in game footage!

they said there are some parts in the trailer that are actual gameplay….not sure what parts though….

No they didn’t, they said Live Action.

theres 2 sites in belgium giving away only 100 positions each. but theres only like 4000 belgian xbox live users and not everyone will know about this, so hopefully i’ll be one of the lucky 200 :)

Not one irish site :(
Not even one decent site.

Im seriously disappointed by they way this is being done. Its basiclly letting everyone know this isnt really a beta just a limited demo to drum up hype. If it was a real beta they would run it like the shadowrun one.

# Edome
# Live Gamers

are only for finland..so thats for me!!

mods should add that some sites are ONLY for that country etc..

Dude, I’m lazy ;)

what is cgi? that trailer proved to be very tricky, gave a lot of hints also… hard to find tho.

Do you get the impression that M$ / Bungie had a panic - opps we forgot Europe.
100 free places on a load of small 360 websites - that will look as though we planned it this way. Not a knee jerk to bad press at all.
I think M$ should be called Nintendo… Europe? Is that in Canada?

Europe is getting screwed again. Just like the release dates from the wii, ps3,psp, ds, xbox, ps2 not to mention the prices which are always at least 20 percent higher than the prices in japan and the US.

Even the comments by sony (”It doesnt matter we delayed in Europe as the European gamers will by our stuff anyway”) says enough on how they think of us.

My biggest point is that (f.i. in the Netherlands) they used sites i didn’t even know they exist or visit.

Who the feck are NG-Gamer or Game Village….plus one of the sites asks you to send a SMS of 1,50 Euro just to subscribe to thei site….what a ripoff….

Forgot to moan about the following.

They also change the giving away of the Beta keys into a competition…..do they really imagine me creating a picture of who i want to be in Halo 3 or answering other stupid questions..???

I think that the Beta will be flooded with Euro kids yelling and screaming.

Comment by Disaster2Master on 2006-12-06 12:07:12 | Reply

i think its stupid how we have to wait for everything as well, and then there is only 100 places per site which they are obviously going to give out to forum moderators and people, so we’re never going to see the game until it comes out
and you only have one entry per person, per gamer tag, so if you’ve entered, then that is it, you’ll have to hope and pray

What’s this? no Xboxic? shame on MS!
I don’t know any of the people running the other sites so it will be much harder to persuade them :P
