Frankie answers Halo 3 trailer questions
Frank O’Connor, Bungie.net Content Manager, also known as Frankie, gave a little ‘interview’ regarding the new Halo 3 trailer. While on IRC last night, several users asked questions, and several users got answers. Take a look after the jump for the complete Q&A list, although not all answers are entirely serious as you might notice.
Konrad: Frankie, is the so-called Shield Grenade a game element?
Frankie: Nothing in the trailer was placed there by the agency - that is to say, every object and action was put in there with Bungie’s consent and usually assets.
Frankie: Which you have t assume we wouldn’t do without good reason, riht?Angel: My question: Are the models of the kids supposed to represent John and Kelly, and if so, is there a specific time frame that they’re in, such as during a training op or something?
Frankie: The children at the start are there “for your interpretation.”

Frankie: What do you mean why? It’s a 1st person shot of the Chief’s hand.
KP: He’s referencing the H2 assets in the Valhalla first person shot.

SG: I assume the commercial is proof that the halo 1 pistol is back. If so, has it undergone any changes to damage, rate of fire, accuracy, ect.?

Frankie: Why does the shield have to be from a grenade? Obviously the object is grenade-like. But who says it’s a grenade?Narcogen: Grenade or not, does the “not indicative of gameplay” caveat apply to the special shield the Chief used in the advertisement– in other words, is this something we should NOT be expecting to see in gameplay?
Frankie: Not indicative of gameplay means, these images were not captured from the gameplay engine.

At the Bungie.net forums and on our own forums, there are lots of people speculating about the hidden clues in the trailer. You can filter out a quite a few things with these answers from Frankie. But still, there’s a lot to discover and think about…

Cant wait for this game! Ive got no change of getting in the Beta but im sure there will be loads of videos!
x button = bubble shield!
A good theory that I’ve heard is that the “X” button may be used as a “SPrint” or “Dash” function. On G4TV AOTS yesterday, host kevin perreira said something like this “In the written works regarding the Halo universe, the Spartan were said to be able to run at speeds up to 30mph, but we haven’t see any evidence of this yet.” And it is interesting that we see Chief sprinting for the first time.. and now this mysterios “Force shield” may be a secondary function of another weapon/granade as eluded to in the interview, it may not be it’s own single weapon, but an alternate function of an existing weapon or device. Who knows… The commercial was badass regardless
that bubble sheild was friggin wicked… they really need to do the movie from these guys that did the commercial it was friggin wicked!
While I agree that the guys that did the commercial did an awesome job, I think the guys at Weta Digital could do better

it’s awesome for single player, multiplayer kills already require 100 shots anywhere but the head to kill someone. we don’t need it to be more frustrating.
this is not enough info. and I thought that after the explosion when the chief is running those 3 seconds of footage were using the in game engine. Just gimme this game already. And itbetter be coming out in march like they said!!

this is for the people trying to find new things about halo3, if u look at when master chief jumps to the wraiths, in front of the wraiths were boosters just like the back part in halo2, so maybe vehichle boost is controllable…

wow, what is up with you people geting so mad at frankie for not giving out too much info? just wait for the game, u dont want to buy the game and already know what happens…
I believe that the boy in the trailer is the master chief, and that the girl will also be in the finalised game as another spartan that he will meet during the game. as they said they wanted to make the story more emotional. plus does anyone remember the female spartan from Dead or Alive 4 (a hint maybe?)
