Japan lines up for Blue Dragon
Microsoft has received a lukewarm response from Japan since the Xbox launched there back in 2002. The launch of Blue Dragon is looking to change all that and it seems to have worked.
At a one time event, about 180 people lined up outside of Yodobashi Camera Media Akiba for the launch of Xbox 360 Blue Dragon Core bundle. Around 40 Media outlets covered the event. Model Horiuchi Yoko was on hand for the event, and had this to say
I’ve never touched Xbox360 before, but Blue Dragon’s animation-like scenes are beautiful. I’ve enjoyed games as a kid and wondered why couldn’t games ever be like this? Can’t wait to clear it!
Microsoft hopes that this will kick-start their Japanese sales. Microsoft has pursued a very aggressive strategy for expanding in the Japanese market lining up developers like Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of the Final Fantasy Series. Sakaguchi’s studio, Mistwalker, is developing 2 more RPGs for the 360, Cry On, and Lost Odyssey. Maybe Sony won’t be able to win this generation by default in Japan like they did with the PS2. It was announced at X06 that Blue Dragon will see a US release, but no date was given.

Famitsu love this, and love Lost Planet, I’m actually starting to look more into Blue Dragon. The only thing that put me a little off is the 3 disks, but it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
Yea god forbid you have to walk up and change discs every 25-30 hours. Gamers today = Lazy as hell!
And what’s the betting that if this was released on PS3 on Blu-Ray, the machine would throw back a disc read error around the point where you would have to insert disc 2 if playing on 360.
I don’t get the multi disk controversy myself. To me it is just more content which means more value (if done right). As long as we aren’t swapping disks every 30 minutes, I don’t really care.
didnt final fantasy 7,8 and 9. have multiple discs? it wasnt an issue then, i dont see how its an issue now.
7 had four, 8 had three and 9 had three, if memory serves me correct
Memory doesn’t, lol. 7 had 3 and 8 and 9 were 4 discs a peice. I’m with everyone else, if it wasn’t a problem then, then what’s all the stupid commotion about.
I can’t wait for this. Long immersive games are what have kept me gaming for 22 years. From what I have read I cannot compare Blue Dragon to Elder Scrolls, but I am hoping for as much enjoyment out of it as I received from Oblivion. I Love the original Final Fantasy series and a huge downfall for me with the XBOX is the lack of RPG’s. FPS are great, but with MAYBE 20 hours of game play they just don’t compare.
An MMO, an original MMO, not a WoW or a DAOC or EQ, but something that would set the XBOX apart would make me a vocal Fanboy, atm I am a closet fanboy. No keyboard? Don’t see how an MMO can happen.
MMO most definetly can happen, “age of conan” as shown on the PC during the last E3 demostration was played entirely by a Xbox360 controller on the PC. Word is, it will be released on the 360 after the PC launch. The game has a ton of promise, a lot, as much as anything coming out and it’s a mature-game with all the bells n whistles one would want out of an MMO (I’m a recovered MMO addict, that’ll only do it again if it’s on the 360 and my 42 inch plasma, lol).
Don’t forget there’s also a Huxley, FPS-MMO coming out as well as a Marvel MMO being developed by Cryptic Studios, the company that brought us “City of Heroes” which is a good solid MMO, a little light in “things to do” but a good MMO none the less.
Keyboard for talking, but these games can be played with a paddle and I’d prefer it.
There are three discs, but tow are fo bonus stuff. The game itself is on one disc.
Wrong.
