Age of Conan MMORPG coming to Xbox 360
Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures was previously only announced as a “Games for Windows” title, but now Microsoft has given the game the green light to be developed for the Xbox 360 as well. As of right now, Funcom will begin development on this MMORPG, however a publisher has yet to be revealed.
Some of you may remember Funcom from another MMORPG, Anarchy Online, which did quite well a while ago on PC. Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures will take place in a world with cruel gods, mythical creatures, lost civilizations and a struggling human race. Conan has seized the throne as king of Aquilonia but apparently his rule is on the brink of chaos, spiraling towards the doom of ancient evils. Funcom is trying to stay true to the vision of Robert E. Howard, the man who created the Conan Universe over 70 years ago. At this point there’s not much more information available, but we do have a bunch of screenshots for you which were taken from the PC version of the game, but these probably won’t be far off of the Xbox 360 version.
“This is a groundbreaking leap forward for Funcom. The fact that we now get the chance to develop ‘Age of Conan’ for the Xbox 360 means access to a potentially whole new and large MMO market,” said Trond Arne Aas, CEO of Funcom. “The fast-paced and innovative combat system in ‘Age of Conan’ will suit the demanding console audience perfect. We believe the amazing online capabilities of Xbox 360 will be a great match for MMOs like ‘Age of Conan’, and as one of a handful officially approved MMO games for the console we aim to create a unique, brutal and powerful online gaming experience.”
A release date hasn’t been set, at least not for the Xbox 360 version of the game. For now, PC gamers will be overjoyed with Conan’s arrival Spring 2007.

ooh conan, my hero.
This is absolutely great news. A true full scale fantasy MMO on a console is the first of it’s kind and definetly the most popular of it’s genre. I simply loved these games on my PC but I prefer to game on my console. Now the only titles currently missing from the console are unlocked and on the way, things just keep getting better.
It’ll be a great experience to finally experience an MMO from the comfort of my couch on a 42inch HD television instead of the neck crunching computer chair with carpal tunnel keyboard (even though a keyboard may be required for some communication, no biggie at all).
The best part of this game is it can be played totally with a controller (as seen in the E3 video when demo’d on a PC using a 360 game pad). No MMO to date is live combat as this game will offer, no auto-attacks, you press the button and swing your sword !!
Great news for all gamers, even better news for consoles and best of all for us MMO lovers.
Yes, Conan is my hero too.
“….as one of a handful officially approved MMO games for the console”
What other MMO:s are coming?
Stargate Worlds?
That’s confirmed for the 360 ? I mean, it sure seems likely since it uses UE3 but this is the 1st time I hear that Stargate Worlds will be ported to the 360. I’d sacrifice my 1st born to the Ori if that’d help SW become a good (no, great) game and make it to the 360
I found the following link that sort of confirms it. I hope it’s true. This one could get even me in the mmorpg scene which i normally hate..

That’s good news. Let’s pray they don’t screw this up …. most mmo’s are pretty crappy unfortunately but Stargate .. yummy
This could be awesome, but will it involve everyone running around as Conan?
This question kinda answers itself if you bother to read the news again …. the game is set in a world *ruled* by Conan (”conan seized the throne ….). This somehow seems to imply that not everyone can run around beeing king, can they ?
Players will be pawns as usual
It might be pre-mature ejaculation but I still came in my pants when I read this. I must be honest that I only purchased the XBOX when I read that Sony was only going to be releasing 400,000 PS3 units in the US. I purchased the 360 the next day and haven’t looked back. If the Conan MMO plays even half as good as it looks there will be no reason to purchase a PS3, as I had been planning to do in the future to fill my RPG/MMO crave. The 360 has MORE than surpassed ANY expectation I had for it.
I don’t look at it as “My 50” Pioneer Plasma is complimented by my XBOX 360”, more like “My XBOX 360 is complimented by my 50” Plasma”.
With this and a hopeful release of Blue Dragon soon, the future it looking mighty bright.
What are the chances this will be covered by my Live subscription?
I’d love to get into a MMO on the 360, but not if it requires a second subscription.
age of conan: hyborian adventures mmorpg game on the “xbox 360″ gaming console must actually be able to be played “offline” as a totally single player video game on the “xbox 360″ gaming console, and have an play online option availible as well, it will be like playing the single player game known as god of war actually in the “offline” single player game option on the “xbox 360″ gaming console itself with absolutely “NO” internet connection required whatsoever at all whatsoever period.
I agree with zleet, if it’s covered by my live subscription, which it should be then i’ll get it, otherwise they can get f**ked. They tried that sh*t with phantasy star online, and as we all know, it didn’t do too well.
You might as well get a MMORPG for a pc, as it costs like £4 a month, rahter than the £7 a month MS were asking for phantasy star online, total rip off.
Or you could not bother replying to a comment made two years ago you fucking numbskull.
