Wireless Headset users getting help
Good news for owners of the Xbox 360 Wireless Headset that are experiencing problems with it (what seems to be the biggest group of users). Tony Hynes, Microsoft’s Xbox Online Community Manager, brings us news through the Gamerscore Blog directly from the Xbox Accessories team. They’re replacing the broken Wireless Headsets, all problems fall under full waranty.
We have received feedback from some customers that they have experienced issues while using the Xbox 360 Wireless Headset, including difficulty syncing the headset to the controller, reception interference and audio sensitivity when playing action-packed games like Gears of War. We are committed to providing the highest quality accessories for Xbox 360 and would like to assist in troubleshooting and resolving those issues, whether by replacing or repairing the units under warranty. We encourage anyone experiencing issues with the Wireless Headset to call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX.
So calling your local Xbox Support number (1-800-4-MY-XBOX in the US) gives full warranty for all known problems. They can be exchanged for a working model or fixed. Fixing them would indicate they know a way to fix it, so it won’t show up on future productions of the headset. In any case, don’t go trowing around with it or scratching on it just yet, cause you might get the same one back.
This move by Microsoft basically confirms that it’s a hardware issue. Since they’re calling them back now I don’t expect the software update many users are waiting for to come out on Xbox Live any time soon.
Thnx to Gotmian for submitting this!

No… they SAY to call the 1800-OUTSOURCE number, but most of the idiots there at the call center still have zero clue about the problem.
Read the comments in the blog entry on larry hyrbs major nelson site, and you’ll see just how many people are still having problems even after that post.
I returned mine for a full refund after getting a supervisor from the the stupid call center on the line telling me that all new products are going to have hardware failures, and that no one has ever called with a headset problem. She also told me that no one at microsoft know what was going on with them.
Really lame ms. Pile this on top of the nov 30th and fall updates bricking console upon console… sony and nintendo couldnt have asked for a better christmas present.
It’s too expensive for me, $60 isn’t worth it (Europe)
Amazon (not sure bout UK), $45 shipped:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/...ZFCZQ/104-5418542-4207933
ÂŁ25.99, think that’s close to $48 us?

sony scewed thenselves my haveing a shortage of PS3’s dont 4 get ms is new to the console wars sonys be with it 4 how long now so i think there doin vary well. even seeing as i’m on my 7th xbox 3rd hdd 2nd power suply and 4th controller just give it time and they will work it all out.
I hope we don’t have to pay for the shipping to THEM.
Yeah you do, as I said above. Really lame.
Read between the lines guys, basically all this is, is an attempt by ms to restate the obvious “yeah it has problems, so what, call the call center”… Nothing is being done about it any differently than the usual crappy support.
I called…Turns out you have to pay and use your own shipping method. you don’t even get reimbursed for what you pay for…
its basically as if your not under a warranty if you gotta pay something…
I have a problem with mine. My headset causes a lot of static that I can’t hear, but drives others crazy. The few times I’ve tried mine, I get yelled at within a minute or so. I tested it last night after hearing this news of theym admitting a problem. The thing still doesn’t work.
I’ll probably wait until next week to call. By then hopefully the support dudes know what’s what.
one of the kids on my friends list was causing a bunch of noise, we told him, he said to hang on a second, and he fixed it. i have no idea what he did but if you have the same problem it seems to be fixable.
usually if you turn it off or back on when it is making the buzzing noises, it will help…
Also turning down the volume a notch or 2.. ( think it has 7 notches for the volume) seems to help cut out feedback.
MS need recognition here for issuing a statement of this ilk within a couple of weeks of the problem showing (albeit a high profile one). Many companies would still be looking into it.
Good on ya MS.
Slim
but all they said was “call support”, and support doesn’t even have a clue what’s going on!
That’s like just saying “put gas in your car” … Its just restating the obvious…
So I call Microsofts notorious 1-800-4-MYXBOX and tell them I am having issues with the wireless headset, just as everybody is. I’m on the phone for an hour, listening to all the troubleshooting methods that are known to man, all of which I have tried or are useless (like having 4 controllers synced using the headset).
Low and behold, they tell me I have to fax them the receipt to prove it’s still under warranty. What?! This product has not even been out in stores for 90 days. Thanks alot for screwing over a loyal customer MS.
I’ve never had a problem with the call center except sometimes I get a foreigner.
It took 3 phone calls, but they finally gave me a return auth number to send back my headset. They said 5-10 business days to get a new one. The first two people knew nothing about the problem. The third person, all I had to say was “wireless headset” and he started getting my information put in the computer to send a new one.

“even seeing as i’m on my 7th xbox 3rd hdd 2nd power suply and 4th controller just give it time and they will work it all out. ”
Dude stop breaking your shit.
Yea really. Pretty sure it’s your problem not the hardware.
if your having that many problems then its not the 360……..IT’S YOU
I have a problem with my wireless headset, my headset syncs with the console on the first quadrant but as soon as i turn on my controller the headset disconnects and syncs with the second quadrant and i can’t talk whilst playing i have to turn off my controller to be able to speak. Is thre any way of fixing this?
the only thing i can think of, and it is a long shot, is that you already have a headset plugged into controller one, and so the wireless is looking for an open slot.
