Halo 3 gameplay footage on Marketplace next week? [Updated]
Belgian blogger and Microsoft employee YLA G, of the Xbox Elite Team Belgium, reports that there will be a 7 minute long trailer for Halo 3 on the Xbox Live Marketplace on December 20th. The clip will show the emergence of the Brutes as “playable characters” in the game and it will contain 2.5 minutes of gameplay footage.
Update: Bungie’s Frankie shot down the playable Brutes rumor on the NeoGAF forums. He said nothing to confirm or deny the gameplay footage rumor but, as AryzonaBay has pointed out; Bungie has hinted at more Halo 3 footage in an earlier weekly update…
On December 20 a new Halo 3 video will be available on marketplace. It’s a 7 minute video that will be released next week. It highlights the emergence of the Brutes as playable characters in the game. It touches on their skills, origins, and how they are being created. It has about 2 ½ minutes of gameplay footage.
We’re filing this under the rumors category because it’s the only source we have for this, which is pretty extraordinary for news this big. The fact that this hasn’t been announced by Bungie also calls for a little skepticism, Bungie made a big announcement for 1 minute of CGI earlier this month, yet they haven’t said anything about the first public showing of Halo 3 gameplay. However, if this is true then Halo fans are going to be in for a blast next Wednesday.
The ‘…emergence of the Brutes as playable characters…’ bit is equally questionable. It wouldn’t be the first time that you play as another character besides Master Chief in a Halo game but the last time that happened, with the Arbiter in Halo 2, it was kept a secret until the game was released. Maybe YLA G interpreted this wrong, maybe we did; time will tell. We’ll give you an update as soon as the trailer is live.

probably get released on december 25th just to steal us all away from our familys christmas morning lol
or those people that should be playing a PS3 or Wii
i doubt it somehow - The brute doesn’t seem like a character that should be playable unless
a) It’s in multiplayer only or
b) The brute you play is one that is going to rebel against the other brutes who want to activate the arc

Im going to beleive it just because its from YLA G.
It could be also be from the multiplayer, not everyone want to be the master chief all the time.
Also “playable character” can be used in games development to mean the npc’s where the AI is the “player”. The engine i use refers to both as “actor” and as “playable character”
NO!!! IM sick of them trying to wedge in some levels of us playing as the enemy.. The arbiter was fun for a while, but nowhere as good as MC… I want to kill them, not be them

damn that’d be nice but I dunno about playing as a brute. I didn’t really think playing as the arbiter was that fun really. MC > Brutes

Bungie made mention of a behind-the-scenes video for H3 in a Weekly Update a few weeks back. Look it up. - I remember Frankie saying something to the effect that “after the CG trailer is released, there will be a behind-the-scenes look at H3 soon thereafter”.
Who cares about Brutes…get rid of the damn FLOOD! easily one of the most frustrating, fun-sucking enemies in any game.
Yeah, getting rid of the Flood and the Brutes, two character classes that are essential to the story, just because somebody on the internet doesn’t like them, what a great idea.

the flood is the whole reason for having the halo’s in the game in the first place, so i doubt that they will ever be removed from the HALO games.
i’m talking gameplay-wise, i know they are important to the story but fighting them is one of the main reasons i am not a halo fan.
keep in mind thats what helps make legendary so freakin hard, one minute they’re dead, next minute they’re hitting you in the back

WTF PEOPLE THE FLOOD KICK ASS i love fighting them on all difficulties its the best way to get better at the damn game besides they get easier after a while xD
I think the Wii weather channel debuts on the 20th so this could make sense… try and suck a little hype out from under Nintendo and their Wii Channels. (I have the wii and love it so dont flame me for being a fan boy, its just a small note worth mentioning)
