BC update now live

We knew yesterday what new games would be coming after the slip-up by Microsoft of putting the list up slightly prematurely, but now the Backwards Compatible update is definitely available the next time you play an original Xbox game connected to Live. The list is the same, but there are some regional lockouts that could disappoint.

Here is the full list, with the new games listed below:

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Burnout 3: Takedown (UPDATED)
  • Conker: Live and Reloaded
  • Dead Or Alive Ultimate
  • Destroy All Humans!
  • Dynasty Warriors 4 / Shin Sangokumuso3
  • Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick
  • Ex Chaser (Japan Only)
  • Family Guy
  • Far Cry: Instincts
  • Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy
  • I-Ninja
  • Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude
  • Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
  • MotoGP
  • Incredibles/ Mr. Incredible (J)
  • Muzzle Flash (Japan Only)
  • MX Unleashed
  • Open Season
  • Pariah
  • Plus Plumb 2 (Japan Only)
  • Psychonauts
  • Psyvariar2 Extend Edition (Japan Only)
  • Rainbow Six: Lockdown
  • Rapala Pro Fishing
  • Rent-A-Hero No. 1 (Japan Only)
  • Scarface
  • Shark Tale
  • Shenmue II
  • Soul Calibur 2 (North America only)
  • Splinter Cell: Double Agent
  • Tenerezza (Japan Only)
  • The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie
  • Ultimate Spider-Man
  • Wakeboarding Unleashed: Featuring Sean Murray
  • Whacked!
  • Winback 2: Project Poseidon
  • Xiaolin Showdown

While many of you will be jumping up and down at the chance to play Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy again, Europeans will be thumping their controllers on the floor as they learn that Soul Calibur II still won’t work. Why it is US only I don’t know, obviously some problems with getting the European copy to work right, for whatever reason. It’s a shame, and one that really demands an explanation.

AMERICAN ONLY

It isn’t the end of the world though, and Psychonauts is now playable, so that should keep a lot of you happy! If there are still games you want to see running on a 360, shout about it in the comments section below. And for those of you that don’t have access to Live, you can burn the update to a CD R/RW disc from here.

Thanks Steve for submitting.

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually I don’t care whatsoever, too busy playing 360 games now. Too many good 360 games now to be worrying about playing my old Xbox games.

Being the awesome reviewer that I am, I’d like to suggest Soul Calibur II, Destroy All Humans!, and Ultimate Spider-Man, especially at these prices. (I still need to buy all three :D)

They still haven’t fixed the issue with the PAL version of Fatal Frame (aka Project Zero), so I’m not holding my breath for PAL Soul Calibur II to be sorted any time soon, tbh.

Yeeeeees, Fahrenheit!

I concur, if I could only have one BC game, that would have been it.

I still have around 20 games that aren’t working. Out of those there’s one I don’t care about.

Not able to run via VGA, bollocks!!!!

Great news, especially nice to see Conker and Shenmue 2 working. Just need the game MAFIA to be BC and I’ll be 100% bc with all of my games.

I would love to see the Timesplitters games added, reasonable games and great drunken multiplayer action.
