Burger King games sell better than Gears
Most of you remember the news we gave you last Saturday. Gears selling 2 million copies in six weeks? Does that ring a bell? Anyway, Gears only had a small time to be proud of this achievement. Today Microsoft announced that the Burger King games hit the 2 million mark in just four weeks!
So, what is it that made these games so successful? Simple answer: The price. The three games are called Pocketbike Racer, Big Bumpin’ and Sneak King. They’re all developed by Blitz Games and are only $3,99. Many people consider these titles pretty reasonable for that price. An interesting side note while comparing Gears to the BK games is the BK games are currently US only, while Gears was shipped worldwide. Of course, you shouldn’t compare Gears to these simple games at all. Some people buy a Xbox 360, just to play Gears, while I don’t see that happening to these games. Still the comparison is pretty fun…

If you live in the US, and don’t have them yet, go grab ‘em at your local BK! I’m pretty sure you won’t regret it. If you live in Europe and want these games real bad you’ll run into a slight problem. The games aren’t region free so importing them is of no use.

Yup - You’d see a lot more million selling next gen games if they all weren’t set at a flat $60 plus tax. Video game publishers have to learn a lesson here - you don’t need a big budget to make a hit video game. You just need a gimmick and an attractive price.
well with a game lick gears there is no gimmick there and our of that 60 bucks to pay for gears ($69 in canada)the develepor gets very little like around one dolar says one report (link and name sliped my mind)
Its the publishers that get $1 per copy sold not the developers. The devs get $27/copy.
For $4, they are better than most of the crap on XBLA at $5. I only bought the BK games for the achievements (I’m a whore…), but they aren’t terrible by any means. You just get what you pay for.
Oh, and does that 2M go for ALL 3 games or are they each selling 2M copies??

I can tell you that for $4 you can’t go wrong with these games. Pocket Bike Racer is actually pretty fun, and you can do 8 people MP. Its just a marketing gimmick and its worked very well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more things like this.

Something to note is that the same game plays both in my old Xbox and my 360. My son gets double play time with the same game.
I hope this gets things going for releasing the games outside of USA.
They use flat pricing of $60 for games no matter what it costs to produce them. Are selling the BK games and losing $56 on each one? I only say that because there is no way a game like “Pimp my ride” should be so expensive. With Gears, I can clearly see the the production costs.

To be fair, remember that these BK games are compatible with both the original Xbox and Xbox 360. My guess is that a large portion of customers purchasing these tites are original Xbox owners.
