New Rally-X, this week’s Live Arcade Wednesday title
I was hoping that something surprising would appear on Xbox Live Arcade for Christmas, perhaps something even free for the day. Alas, those hopes went unanswered. Two days later, we have our final Live Arcade Wednesday title of 2006.
Taken from the Xbox 360 Dashboard:
Single Player, HD (High Definition). Collect all the flags while avoiding enemy cars! With new features such as the Lucky Flag, which awards you points depending on your remaining fuel. Collect the Special Flag to double the points of all remaining flags! NEW RALLY-X, the sequel to RALLY-X, was released in 1981. It featured new courses and adjustments to the enemy cars, improving the overall game balance, as well as new graphics and BGM!
Fortunately the game is available for the small price of 400 MS Points, although I feel even that may be a lot to ask for this, an updated version of an arcade classic.
Yes, this is a rip-off even for 400pts. “Basic” is too kind a word. We’re talking pre-NES graphics and zero AI (on level 2 of the trial game, the AI cars always seem to crash into each other and get stuck, leaving you to complete the level unimpeded)
At least games like Pac-Man have a genuine retro appeal, this is just shit.

Yes this is absolute SHIT!!! This version is free on PSP Ridge Racer 1, I hated it even on that!!

its their own fault too, ms could have done something good with the arcade, but crappy game after crappy game every week or 3 aint gonna cut it.
yeah there really is no need to make people wait weeks for rubbish old titles on a console capable of producing outstanding HD Content…I think more than on game should be released each week.

Hologuts: the middle road between censorship and crap forum is a hard one to follow. We obstinately refuse to become a censored dictatorship like so many sites out there, so a reply like the one from n00bs here is perfectly valid here. In reality we know that if the flaming is uncalled for or unfounded, the other visitors will tear him down. Practice simply dictates that we have no need for more censorship than we do.
And rest assured that we do act upon real idiots and trolling. The rules are strictly enforced and people have been banned regularly before.

the point is, instead of having a good game that we can enjoy, we’re left with a stupid game that is no fun and hoping the game next week will be descent. so far here are only a few games i would pay for. i and others would like that to change.

Where is Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan that was mentioned months ago? I agree there’s been some good releases lately but 1 a week is not enough if they are going to release something like Rally-X as the last release of the year? Wouldn’t you want to go out with a bang?
oh yeah settlers and stuff was mentioned at x06 or something wasn’t it, that should be better than these konami/namco messes of games
Haha, I kind of enjoyed this on the PS2 Namco collection. But look, no multiplayer, where have I seen that before?

I have fond memories of playing this game as a kid. I think maybe at a pizza place or something. I’ll at least try the demo.
I would not have this game on my 360 even if it was for free. It realy sucks big time. Better luck next time.
I’m sorry, but when the wii has better games coming out for its arcade lineup, you really have to ask yourself why ms insults gamers this way.

I’d almost by a wii just to play that on the big screen without plugging in the laptop that is.
I put enough quarters into Rally-x way back when, i doubt i’d buy it, these things should revert to free after a while. But i dont see any reason to whine and cry about the whole thing.

I was 90% sure that Heavy Weapon will be released today, WTF? According to this news it is the only title which hasn’t been released yet this holiday season.
As is understand MS got their xmas sales already, so now they can continue feeding us with their ported retro crap.
OH GOD! what is it with people and the you dont have to buy it rubbish! WE DONT BUY IT !! The point is it’s an XBOX 360 capable of playing much better content than some old old arcade game. Theres excellent original games on it like Small Arms, for instance. People want more choice and more originality alongside the old crap - not just the old crap!

i just got a wii… but i can’t bring myself to download any VC titles yet due to being able to get them so easily on the PC or PSP or even my original xbox… lol
