Still hoping for a Halo 3 beta invite? Get Crackdown.

When news reached us that the Halo 3 beta signup was to begin earlier this month, Halo fans from across the globe leapt at the opportunity to get an early reunion with the Master Chief himself. With beta invitations said to be limited, many a gamer will be waiting with baited breath to hear of their acceptance. But, there is now another way to get a beta invitation; Crackdown.

The following advertisement, taken from the latest issue of Gamepro has a very interesting footnote in the bottom right hand corner reading “INCLUDED INVITATION TO HALO 3 MULTIPLAYER BETA, Limited time offer - look for specially marked boxes”.

Crackdown offering invitation to Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta

Whilst we can’t offer firm confirmation, we can speculate that the early batches of the upcoming free roaming action title, Crackdown, will provide the limited time offer. Here at Xboxic we’ve been keeping a close eye on this title by bringing news of the upcoming demo and a full Q&A with developers Real Time Worlds.

With the game seemingly shaping up very well, a Halo 3 beta invite could just be the icing on the cake. Either that or it’ll send sales through the roof.

How many here would buy Crackdown just to get the Halo 3 Beta invite?

Not me. I had intended to get this game anyway.

I’m with Ross.

Well, crackdown looked good, but I wasn’t sure about buying it, but this did put it over the edge.

Not sure, VS already got to write in on betatesting.

Europe would follow said MS. Maybe it’s through this sale of Crackdown

I think it’d be in Europe too, as the developer of this game is in Europe too. But even if they weren’t it’d be stupid to make it US only!

Yeah first thing I thought was U.S only, I suspect it isn’t though because Crackdown is going to be released in Europe first, And this could be a good roll out for the European Beta registration. Though would mean we have to wait until the end of February ¬_¬ The demo could make or break this one for me.

I’m excited about Crackdown but not Halo 3.

I would totally by Crackdown for a shot at playing H3 earlier than most the world. Besides, Crackdown is shaping up to be a good GTA-style superhero game anyway, so 60 dollars is a steal.

Crackdown looks like a definite buy unless the demo sucks bad. But my guts are telling me it won’t suck so …..

I couldn’t care less about a Halo3 beta invite tho. I’d rather wait for the final game, play it once and be done with it. I never understood what all the Halo fuzz was about. The Music was nice tho :)

I was gonna get this game anyway but I’ll make sure to get it as soon as possible now!

I’ll sell you my invite. Just send me the $100 via paypal and we’ll get you all set up. Sounds good? great. So c’mon then, send it…..

If you actually had a legitmate invite, I would do it.

Hmm, so MS gets pissed at the site that sold Beta entries, but it’s ok for them to do the same to whore a game? Haha. Oh well, not my baby, I don’t care.

Still, I’m piqued by Crackdown, but I’m skeptical all the same. I’ll rent it first, and if it’s gravy, I’ll buy.

Comment by El $corpio on 2006-12-28 22:47:12 | Reply

Well it’s not really selling them and it’s microsoft handing them out directly…it’s just an extra for people that want to buy the game.

BTW you’ll be able to try the demo on the 18th of January so perhaps no need to rent ;)

I wish this game was a MMOFPS…

That’s like saying “I wish PGR4 is a RPG.”

Pgr4 as an RPG would pwn btw.

Comment by El $corpio on 2006-12-29 10:40:04 | Reply

Yeah and some people with more money than sense will buy them ;)

Comment by Evan on 2006-12-29 03:43:48 | Reply

i was already gonna look in depth (and probably buy) into this once more media came out but this kind of has me sold, unless the demo sucks complete and total ass.

I wonder when they are gonna tell us who is in the beta testing?

Comment by vandenbond on 2006-12-29 13:53:57 | Reply
