Dashboard Themes - preview before you buy

Ever noticed that when browsing Xbox Live Marketplace at the prospect of purchasing a shiny new theme for your Xbox 360 dashboard you aren’t able to preview them? It’s certainly a little strange to purchase themes with little to no idea of how they’ll actually look. Fortunately, a solution is now available.

Viva Pinata theme

A new community website, dashboardthemes.com now offers the ability to see the themes available on Live Marketplace. Even more impressive however is that it will even show you all the different blades so you can discover exactly how your Guide, Xbox Live, Games, Media and System blades will look.

As far as helpful community websites go, we’d have to rank this one pretty highly as it’s a must for all those diehard theme shoppers out there. Having viewed the various themes on offer, are you now tempted to go forth and purchase any?

Whoa, this is great. The problem with xbox.com was that you couldn’t actually see what it looked like with the text. Here, you can.

I really like my Halo Wars theme though :)

well actually you can preview the themes on the dashboard by just going to the theme press A like your about to buy it and look in the top right hand corner at the pictures they show.

They don’t always do it, and they’re really small pictures.

People actually waste money buying those themes? I’m amazed. I’ve tried some of the free ones and I always end up back at Glass.

Am I the only person who used their own picture as the theme background? :)

Hmm, seemingly related, does anybody know where you can get a list of all *free* themes (or gamerpics) available on the marketplace?

They don’t have such a thing. They are all catagorized by like, genre or by game. So all the free ones are mixed in with the ones you need to buy.
I sure wish that they would come out with a section where it would sort out all the free ones.
