Soldiers test Halo 3

Gamers going into Halo withdrawal have a new glimmer of hope this new year, it looks like they might have a way to get their grubby little hands on Halo 3 a little early. Don’t bother waiting for your beta entry to go through, and you won’t have to buy Crackdown. All it takes is a 2 year commitment and a deployment order for Iraq.

It’s surfaced over at the Gamespot forums that Bungie has sent Halo 3 for some real battle testing in Iraq. Some pictures have surfaced, as have a few videos, that give the slightest glimpse of the game possible. It’s nice to see that this holiday season someone is trying to bring some much needed holiday cheer to the troops serving overseas in Iraq. I’m sure it doesn’t replace being able to see your family, I’d be willing to bet that this gesture was greatly appreciated.

thats coo for them. they deserve that more that any little 9 year old who put in 1000 entries trying to get picked first.

Definitely scores some awesomeness points for Bungie doing this for the troops.

Bungie can’t be happy that the pictures were leaked? I imagine it’s the last time the army see any Bungie games early.

Unless Bungie knew that they’d be leaked and it would just add to the game’s hype even more.

Bungie just released a video with gameplay footage from the same build a week or two ago, so it’s not as if its uber top secret now.

Nope … this is a different build. The HUD is different. Bungie already acknowledged that the “Et tu, Brute” footage was months old. This is newer and looks to me in ‘real’ game environments (as opposed to the campaignish ’sandboxes’ of the vidoc.
