If you’re ever so slightly excited about Bioshock, and wish they would hurry up and release it, you now know just how long you have to wait. Announced over in the Through The Looking Glass forums, it seems a 2K forum member has told everyone to expect a release in June. Unfortunately, Europeans may be waiting slightly longer.

Posted by 2K Elizabeth, who has “2K Games” under her name instead of the usual “Member”, has said that the official release date is now June 2007. That’s only five months away then. Of course they don’t mention the exact date, but it’s always nice to know there is a reason to get excited just before Summer hits. 1UP contacted 2K Games who confirmed that Bioshock would be headed to the 360 and PC in June.

That’s if you’re a US citizen though. CVG also contacted 2K Games to ask whether this was a universal release date, since no region specific news had been mentioned. Low and behold, it might not make a June release in Europe:

When queried on the UK and European release, a 2K spokesperson explained that the company tries to keep releases simultaneous, but was unable to 100-percent confirm whether we’ll be getting Bioshock at the same time as our North American gaming cousins - or later.

Not too alarming at this stage, and it certainly isn’t a surprise. There is surely a reason as to why he or she couldn’t confirm it, but we won’t know for sure until June. We can only hope, and at least if it does get delayed, we’ve now had plenty of warning, so start preparing yourselves!
