Lost Planet selling better than expected
Capcom is doing good business with their Xbox 360 games, last year’s Dead Rising sold well even in Japan, but now with more people owning an Xbox 360, their latest game Lost Planet just shipped over a million copies. This all happened in a very short period of time and they will probably ship and sell a whole lot more in the weeks to come.
Earlier Capcom said they hoped to surpass the target of 740,000 copies and according to Investment firm, Fisco, who’ve conducted the research, it has been surpassed by a pretty large margin. I mentioned Japan earlier, but these numbers for Lost Planet are from Europe and the US even though the Japanese version is in stores since December last year.
During E3 last year we were treated with a very early demo of Lost Planet which surprised most of us. The game looked remarkably well polished at this stage of development and it got a lot of people interested. Later that year a multiplayer demo was released where we could duke it out against each other and this also got a lot of people waiting for the full version to be released.
We’re definitely looking forward to more quality games from Capcom for the Xbox 360 but we won’t be seeing any in the future. Resident Evil 5 is the first one on the list but it isn’t exclusive since it will be released on the PS3 as well.
Thanks to narsil for submitting this news.

Is it any good?
Just played the demo, and apart from the fact that its hard to tell whos who, its pretty cool.
Great game. The multiplayer is superb but takes a while to learn the details as so much is going on. When the dust settles this game I’m sure will have a solid fanbase and best of all the whining kiddies don’t seem to like it. Result.
quality no annoying brats
Good old fashioned fun all round then!
I think Capcom has realized they can exploit the market by releasing games outside the holiday season, hopefully a lot of others will follow!
CAPCOM GET RID OF VOICE MASKING
i hate voice masking those r just noobs besides that its an awsome game
I like the single player even better then the multiplayer. Don’t know why, but the nice Japanese feeling to it, the large end bosses. That does it for me.
It’s like back to the old days of the Amiga, where Capcom also did some nice games.
For multiplayer I still prefer Gears of War for intense action and just for fun shooting COD3
omg, never imagined it would sell that well. damn.
Mine’s coming Tuesday
Wouldn’t you know it would come out on MLK Jr. weekend.
I was worried about the mixed reviews on several sites affecting the sales of Lost Planet but it appears consumers are going to try it for themselves
I bought my copy and will be waiting for Amazon to SHIP MY GAME OUT!!
This is definately good news for Xbox 360 gamers and for Capcom, it makes a very good argument that games like Devil May Cry and the like will be on the 360.
THIS IS FOR WHO EVER WROTE THE ARTICLE. This game Lost Planet has not sold a million copies. Capcom has shipped 1 million copies. there is an astronoimical difference. check your facts next time.
THIS IS FOR JEFF, I don’t think it says that it’s sold a million, it just says better than expected.
Oops, yeah it does, sorry Jeff.
Shipped, sold, ausgeliefert, what’s the difference
Tnx
even if they have not sold one million, the fact that they have shipped that much means that the demand for the game is there and that some time soon it will reach and maybe surpase 1 million, like dead rising did recently.
THIS IS FOR JEFF. Pull the stick out of you A$$ and remember that gaming is supposed to be FUN. Not a festival for your anal detail checking.
LMFAO
You definetely need to play the game to get a proper feel for it, and what is going on in each game type. The instructions are useless and dont tell you what you need to know. But it wont take long to learn. Also its the first game in ages that ive played in open games without any annoying idiots apart from one guy TK’ing in one game. Even the americans have been fairly good natured so far without the usual nig**r and fag being shouted out every 2 seconds
I have a reservation for this game at Gamestop. I got sick Friday, and still am. So, I never picked it up. Saturday, I got the dreaded 3 red lights of death on my 360. So, I’ll be without it for a while. I’ll wait to pick up my copy of Lost Planet until I get my 360 back.
3 red lights … welcome to the 360 Fan Club.
When you have 3 Red Lights for the first time as a 360 owner, ya popped your cherry! It’s a sign of being a REAL 360 owner.
so much hostility. they fixed the article after i said it, geez.
no bullshyt guys! from grafic to gameplay this game is good. my hdtv does 1080p and lostplanet does 1080p too and after trying the game I had to pick up my jaw off the floor.it’s just how bad the graphic is, i mean so much detail in the screen, the smoke, the explosions, the missiles, the vital suit if you have not try it yet i suggest you give it a shot cause the game is cool.
I like it alot. Amazing visuals!
A lot of people on Wii60 love the mechs. Said it’s Mechs Done Right, and are predicting Armored Core 4 won’t even compare.
This game is awesome, it took about 10 hours to complete but it didnt feel at all rushed and was mucho fun from start to finish. The battles with mech and Akrid felt epic and involving and the world felt constantly alive.
This game deserves to do well and even though it is another ’shooter’ it seems to be doing well in Japan from what i can see 50% of all the players in the online matches were Japanese! Ok so there wasnt much chit chat going on but it was a really nice change not to hear gobby kids or Americans hogging the voice chat.
I still ain’t heard one Jap voice online, what a novelty.
OMG, someone has definitely been working on the explosions.
for those of u, with a 1080p hdtv, try LP at 1080p. this shyt is swiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
This game has been polished and is one of the better games to date. Both single and multi play are awesome.
BTW, The amount of games “Shipped” IS the number used for number of copies sold. It does’nt matter how many us consumers have bought, It’s the number shipped to retail that shows number of games sold. Same with cd’s. Foe example, If they shipped a million copies of the game and only 10 were actually bought, The industry still says they sold a million copies. Not to accurate but that’s the way it is…
The reason for I would imagine is that they have been sold, it’s just they have been sold to the retailer, then the retailer resells the product to the public.
Are you sure the game is at 1080p? How do you have it hooked up? with a PC cable? very cool if this is true
BTW…I bought it yesterday and played thru the first 6 levels..I think there are 11…
very cool. And it is like the old school video games with the hard bosses and mech devices. I really like..need to play online still.
Well the sales just got even better cos I just nipped out of work to purchase it, limited edition so I get a map which I paid £5 extra for which will probably be available on the marketplace next week for £2.
The map is going to be free….
This summer.
“The reason for I would imagine is that they have been sold, it’s just they have been sold to the retailer, then the retailer resells the product to the public.”
Yes, That is correct.
ho yeah it does 1080p!
