Cracks in the demo means a delay

We were all looking forward to the 18th of January, as we all wanted to see exactly how much fun Crackdown Co-Op would be, and whether it was worth a purchase, or just buy it for the Halo Beta. Sadly, we will have to wait a bit longer as the demo has been delayed, since the demo has only just entered the final certification process. Also, the Co-Op may not be all we had hoped.

It is not known why exactly the demo has been delayed; chances are there were several bugs in the demo that needed to be ironed out, and it took more time than anticipated. It should also be noted that while the full game offers “Join-in progress” support for Co-Op, the demo will not. Therefore you can’t be playing the demo on your own and someone can randomly join you. Instead, you will have to set up the Co-Op before the game starts. Not a huge problem, since it is only a demo, you can never expect too much.

Please note that while the retail release of Crackdown will feature a robust, jump-in-anytime-and-play cooperative mode, the demo will not support “join-in-progress” gameplay. Gamers must organize co-op matches from the demo’s interface before jumping into the crime-ridden streets of Pacific City. Once in a game, players will be able to fully explore one of the four major gang-held territories available in the final game. Also note that Agent leveling is enhanced in the demo to provide a better understanding of the advanced abilities of these physically augmented peacekeepers.

The press release states that the demo has only been delayed by a couple of days, so unless they release it over the weekend, keep an eye out for it on Monday. The game’s release date hasn’t slipped, so that will be, at the moment, coming on the 20th of February.

Thanks to IMI for submitting.

For people who live in the UK or anywhere other than the US, The crackdown Halo 3 beta invite is the only option to get into the beta. All the rest of the options are only avaiable for US residents

I’m hoping this game turns out to be good. Selling it based on the gimmick that you get to participate in a beta test may say something about the quality of this game; but I sure hope it doesn’t mean the game is bad. We all should know hopefully by next week :) I’m really hoping this is a good game.

Might these “delays” have something to do with the intention to get the most possible gamers to buy this game blindly for the halo3 beta without trying it out first…maybe..maybe not

Me and thousands of other people have been tempted to buy this just for the halo Bata. I don’t expect this to WOW me with its gameplay but its actually looks like a bit of fun, and i do need a game to keep me entertained while my other games bore me now.

Battlestations Midway demo will be out on the 18th instead of Crackdown. Fine with me :)

If they really wanted to trick people into buying it…. then they wouldn’t release a demo at all. Duh.

I hope it’s as fun as it looks. If it is, I’ll be buying, and the halo beta will be gravy.

Please, I wanted to buy this game LONG before the Halo Beta was announced for it. Whether or not the game is amazing, Online Co-Op for the complete game MAKES it amazing. The Halo Beta is just a plus to me. ^_^

Shame I was looking forward to the demo, though I read last night on xbox.com that the demo wasn’t released till next month. About time they released some new demos though.

Is the beta invite in the preorder copys only?

As far as I understand it, no.

does it say anything about halo 3 co-op that the beta invite is included in a game that features live-enabled co-op?
