Battlestations: Midway, demo available tomorrow
Earlier today we gave news of a delay in the Crackdown demo originally scheduled for release tomorrow. Whilst disappointed, we can now offer some reprieve as a demo of Eidos’ Battlestations: Midway will be available in its place.
Speaking to Gamespot, Eidos confirmed that the demo of Battlestations Midway would be available for download via Xbox Live Marketplace on Thursday January 18th.
Gamespot offer the following details of the demo: The demo concentrates on the multiplayer portion of the World War II vehicular-combat game. There will be one multiplayer map–Island of Solomon–which pits the American forces versus the Japanese forces. In order to win, gamers must wipe out the opposition’s naval base, air base, and aircraft carrier.
For those unfamiliar with Eidos’ new title, here’s a breakdown of the games features:
- Revolutionary Gameplay:
Experience epic WWII combat from multiple perspectives as you jump between dozens of units, playing as a pilot, a gunner, a submarine captain or even a carrier fleet commander. - Massive Battlefields:
Every battle takes place simultaneously in the air, on the sea and beneath the waves. Movement of your fleet and the individual efforts of any one vehicle is critical to success. - Innovative Online Multiplayer:
Huge multi-unit online battles with up to 8 players controlling over 100 units via Xbox Live and Gamespy. - Authenticity & Realism:
Cutting-edge graphics bring the Pacific ocean and island chains alive with lush real-world environments, dynamic weather effects and incredibly detailed vehicles and weaponry. - Sixty War Machines:
Each warship, plane and submarine is authentically designed. The more players know about each units profile, capabilities and weaknesses the better they will fight. - Deep Single Player:
Features 11 epic campaign missions, 12 bonus challenge missions, naval training academy and an immersive storyline.
Although our plans to juggle cars on the roofs of Crackdown tomorrow had been dashed, we’re very happy to know that we’ll be able to fight massive air, sea and undersea battles in WWII’s Pacific theatre instead!

I’ve read nothing about this games! Absolutely nothing, so this is a great chance to check it out!
You can already download a number of trailers for it, looks quite good, if a little hectic.
cool maybe it’ll be some fun
that shyt better not b another blazing angel.
Amen buddy.
Gomer Pyle voice: “Welcome to battlestations y’all, you might remember me from the blazing angels demo, I am here to learn you how to play this here video game”../shiver
LOL you havent read about this game? are you shitting this is probably one of the most anticipated large war games ever, i mean crap you can fly bombers, control battleships and air carriers, wage massive wars (and i do mean massive fromw hat teamxbox said)
I was really looking forward to this, and crackdown so either demo will rock hehe
Longitude: it can’t be another blazing angel because its not a flying game… it has flight in it but its not primarily a flight game, it’s more battle command than flight sim.
I can’t wait!!! I am dieing to try both this and crackdown. The thing that keeps you on the edge of your seat is they both have potential to be really awesome or a total flop.
This is my kinda game, I can just visualise the massive online wars that will take place. Cannot wait for this one.
Why would Gamespy be used if this is a Live game? Any idea why this would be mentioned?
theefman, I believe that statement just refers to the PC version of the game. As the game will be released on multiple platforms, it will use Gamespy on PC and Live on the 360.
