Gears of War - mysterious patch explained
Those of you who loaded up Gears of War yesterday may have noticed that an update was available for the game via Xbox Live. Yes, this is a second update following the previous update on January 8th. As any Gears fan would do, we tried long and hard to find details on this new patch but to no avail. Fortunately, Vice President of Epic Games Mark Rein has stepped forward to shed some light.
Commenting on the official Gears forums, Mark Rein said “It is a minor compatibility update. No gameplay or functionality changes at this time.”
Yep, I’m afraid that’s all folks. We presume that the minor compatibility update was perhaps some form of localization for the games recent Japanese release. Whilst players from across the globe had started to speculate that the shotgun had become less powerful and that it was now possible to select pink hair for Baird we can assure you that it was indeed all speculation.
We’ll keep a close eye on future Gears of War updates, particularly those that we hope fix the current VGA issues and of course the much talked about glitching. In the mean time, this update is nothing to be excited over.

Everyone gets on Glovner’s case because he finds trouble articulating himself without swearing like a 12 year old with no one home. This was seemingly the one place where normal and sensible ADULTS could discuss various topics. His act got real old real quick! There’s no mystery to it. People are just fed up with his tired old “Fuck this and fuck that and fuck the other thing too!” comments.

There are many posts on here where there is no swearing whatsoever which contain valid information.
Unfortunatley for you though (so it would seem) I come from a part of the world where middleclass christian American values really are not held in that high a regard. The emphasis put on swearing where I come from is very small indeed and you will find people using “fuck” instead of an “Eh”
or an “um”. Where swearing is pretty much a general part of the language and not done in a malicious way or in the hope to offend people, it’s mearly used in friendly company as a way of adding emphasis to certain parts of your conversation.
Now if this upsets you and you feel my points are less deserving than your’s because of it then thats fine, it’s your personal opinion and you are entitled to it. But what you need to appreciate is that this is the internet which brings people from differing society’s and backgrounds together on equal footing to discuss their own thoughts so just because I happen to articulate my scentences in a different manner shouldn’t be frowned upon, but it seems this is the only thing you can really pick me up on so it really falls down as quite a lame unaccepting argument.

What is everybody’s problem with games and fixes? The game is playable, it is fun, nothing to complain about really is there?
Those developers worked month and month on a game, the game works itself through al the internal tests, ready for production and after a couple of weeks some people find minor glitches. Are they worrying? I dont think so…

Gears is still an amazing game. EVERYGAME has some glitches. People make it seem like Gears is unplayable. I never noticed an issue before the patch and I dont see any now. Some minor glitches in each level… so the hell what, you can still kill your enemies even if they glitch. Worst case scenerio…. they run outside the mad and the battle is a draw. SO WHAT! You can kill more next round.

Although I am 100% satisfied with GOW, telling people that are not happy to simply “Not Play it” it’s really any kind of a solution at all. Anyone who shells out $60 for a game deserves to have a product that has been play tested thoroughly. Like I said, I’m fine with GOW, but anyone who is not happy with the game for reasons other than subjective issues has the right to complain.

the glitching is really annoying on tyro station when people go outside the map and you have to wait for the round to be over, but other than that i have no problems. love the game.
I hope there’ll be some lag balance and chainsaw bugs removed in the next update
