Halo 3 Beta on all Crackdown discs [Update]
If you were worried that you would have to pre-order a copy of Crackdown from online retailers that explicitly mentioned the Beta, then you need worry no more. A Microsoft rep has confirmed that every copy of Crackdown will indeed have the Beta on.
Update: It seems IGN got it wrong. 360Fanboy were contacted by Microsoft, who have stated that every copy of Crackdown in the initial shipment will have the Halo Beta on, and will be specially marked accordingly. Original post inside, but to clarify- pre-ordering is now the best way to go, for those that haven’t already.
It isn’t even the first batch of Crackdown discs that you must get either. According to IGN, the Beta will be offered right into March, meaning there really is no hurry. So if you haven’t pre-ordered yet, or if everyone has sold out of their pre-orders, then fear not, you haven’t let the chance pass you by.
You can stop looking for specially marked boxes now, they all include the Beta
This will hopefully reduce the number of eBay auctions that will likely be running, claiming to “have one of the few discs with a Halo Beta on”, and charging a fortune in the process. It is also good news for all those unfortunate enough not to make it through other processes. In yet more pleasing news, don’t forget you do get Crackdown, with a demo recently released on the Marketplace. The demo is brilliant, and well worthy of a purchase regardless of the Beta.
Hopefully this news brings some peace of mind to some of you who were beginning to panic that they may have left it too late to get an order in. You haven’t, and you’ve got well into March before the Beta stops being included.

That’s handy to know Ross! It’s an added bonus for me, after playing the Crackdown demo I’ve already decided to pre-order it, it’s just so much fun!
shame crackdown was more like cackdown otherwise id be happy.
I think it’s great other than the one problem that always plagued the next-gen GTA games too - when you’re in a car, the camera angle is too low and it makes it frustratingly difficult to see where you’re going.
I have to admit to preferring Saints Row to Crackdown, tho.
It’s a decent game - it doesn’t have the feel, style or control of a GTA, but it’ll be a good blast til the true GTA4 arrives.
It’s still going to be hilarious when all the people who don’t give a shit about CrackpipeDown have to shell out 60 bucks just to play a fraction of Halo3, then spend an extra 60 to play the full game. And I get the beta for free! suckers!!! M$ is the new Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey…”A sucker is born every five minutes” and M$ is capitalizing…Good for them, bad for the suckas!!!!
Not everyone is getting Crackdown for the Beta. Some people find the game is actually more important, which to me it is. So I don’t see that shelling out $60 (£40) is getting me some Halo action. It is getting me Crackdown, a hugely enjoyable game that comes with some Beta or something for, er, what was it? Halo?

i think thats why MS have done it this way, to stop people making money from a halo beta.
Studley, thats the point… MS & Bungie don’t want you to be able to sell on your beta, unless you want to give up Crackdown as well!

the game is ok i guess…i like jumping from building to building…wonder what u can do once u get all the levels up!…….so it has the halo beta..wow!…i dont really care about the multi player part of halo 3 anyways…its gonna be the samething as halo2…with better graphics…i just want halo 3 for the story..and the ending of course….
Good to know… but I pre-ordered Crackdown anyway. It’s an awesome game.
Crackdown is a rental at best……and thats only if they’re out of EVERY OTHER GAME. The demo confirmed what I thought about Crackdown, its nothing more than an average game, with a somewhat “new” idea. Big jumps are cool though! Thats about it…..:(
Don’t know what some people are ‘complaining’ about, if you get crackdown for the game that’s fine, if you feel like spending 60 bucks fort the halo 3 beta it’s fine as well.

I’m a big enough fan of Halo that I will buy Crackdown and I will buy the Legendary Edition of Halo 3. I previously bought 3 xbox 1’s with 3 copie of halo and 3 copies of halo 2 just so we can lan parties anytime even with people that didn’t have an xbox.

I was going to get this game well before the beta invite was announced (after reading about it in OXM).
Chances are I won’t even use the beta as Halo 2 seems to fill up with mouthy teens who will doubtless be getting Crackdown just for the beta invite.
Maybe now the folks at EBGames and Gamestop will stop trying to coerce people into preordering Crackdown because “only preordered copies will come with the Halo 3 beta”. I actually had someone use that line on me the other day.

ain’t care about hallo 3 beta man 4king frist person game, third person is the shyt, soooo! gears of war, lost planet, crackdown alllll the wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
I was mainly getting Crackdown for the beta, but now after playing the demo I getting to play the game. I played the multi-player part of the game last night and loved it. I also love trying to jump from building to building.

Eh. I’m still not preordering anything from EBGames/Gamestop. If my copy of Crackdown that I get from Best Buy has the Halo 3 Beta, so be it. If not, that’s OK, too.
I’m really starting to get tired of the FUD emanating from EB/GS… “Oh, everyone’s going to start requiring preorders before too long.” Stuff like that really pisses me off.
