Tunes go Looney with Warner announcement
Warner Brothers have announced that they will be bringing the lovable Looney Tunes to the 360 (and Wii) in a brand new game. It will feature some of the most popular characters to use in this action-adventure title.
From the press release:
Published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developed by REDTRIBE, LOONEY TUNES: ACME ARSENAL is an action-adventure game featuring seven playable Looney Tunes characters, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tazmanian Devil, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Gossamer and a special secret character, all rendered in high-definition, next-generation graphics.
“LOONEY TUNES: ACME ARSENAL is updating the classic characters in engaging ways that will appeal to new generations of fans as well as the loyal fans of these enormously popular cartoons,” said Jason Hall, Senior Vice President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “The game captures the great irreverence of the Looney Tunes’ humor and allows players to take the characters where they have never gone before with next-generation gameplay and graphics.”
Engaging in one or two player cooperative gameplay, gamers will find themselves immersed in fast-paced combat, puzzle solving challenges and vehicle-based action in rich environments inspired by the popular, outlandish cartoon tales. Players will command an arsenal of ACME melee and projectile weapons in outrageous battles and travel to various locations such as Camelot, Ancient Egypt, Mars, the Wild West, the trenches of World War II and more.
Xbox 360 version will allow players to fully utilize real-time physics and animation blending and Xbox Live® online entertainment network will allow for two player cooperative game play. Players will also be able to take full advantage of the gesture controls in fighting, spin attacks, smash attacks and driving on the Wii version.
Slightly strange name to call the game, but others may find it somewhat intriguing. Nice to see that some Live co-op has been included as well, something which is proving to be particularly important of late, with the likes of Crackdown and Gears of War demonstrating the potential. And a secret character is always good to have as it keeps us all guessing. Hopefully this will appeal to both kids and adults alike, and hopefully the humour they mention isn’t lame humour that not even the children laugh at.
Interestingly, the game is not being developed for the Playstation 3, something which some may find surprising. Why this is was not mentioned in the press release? A nod in the direction of Wii60 for the win?

Oh nice one, Looney Tunes rock!
lol it’ll be just the game for a lot of people I guess
Seeing how amazing the cel-shaded Neversoft Mascot looks in Project 8, I can’t wait to see a full next-gen cel-shaded game. Let’s hope it doesn’t suck like most licensed titles.
