Ghosts, we have incoming!
Listen up Ghosts, our intel suggests that we have an incoming demo in all Xbox Live regions for Gold Members, repeat, Delta Echo Mike Oscar, over. We strongly advise you lead your squad onto Xbox Live Marketplace and download immediately. Beware of enemy downloaders, we must take control all of available bandwidth, over and out.
Ok, those of you who didn’t manage to crack our code, what we’re trying to say is that a demo of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is now available for download on Xbox Live. The demo weighs in at a reasonable 625.54 MB and here are the details from the 360 dashboard:
Following up the 2006 platinum seller Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (GRAW), Ubisoft brings the sequel GRAW2, with more of what fans loved about the original with 12 single player missions, 14 multiplayer maps, and a 6 mission coop campaign. You are the Soldier of the Future 2.0. All systems have been upgraded to give you more power and control on the battlefield. Following the failure of the “coup d’etat” in Mexico City Mexican rebels have gathered their remaining forces along the US border. Lead your team of elite Special Forces for the first time on US soil - straddling the border between Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, Texas. The Ghosts have less than 72 hours to stop a nuclear attack.
Though the dashboard description doesn’t offer much information on the demo itself, Ubi_Rickas (UK Comminuty Manager) was available on the official Ubisoft forums to offer the following demo details:
The mission in the GRAW 2 single player demo happens in the mountains surrounding Juarez near the US border. The environments are pretty different and refreshing for a Ghost Recon game. They also feature some of the new technological and visual features in the new game, but there is much more are to discover in the rest of the game.
In this demo the player will get the experience outdoor gameplay in open environment. This mission is one that requires you to sneak upon your enemy and recon the environment. In order to do so the player is granted the support of a UAV Cypher drone. They will be able to experience the Cross com 2.0 Command Full View with this drone first. This will allow the player to take direct control of the drone and fly it through its camera view. Hence they can recon the environment very accurately and spot enemies to engage from a favorable position.
In this demo the player will also be able to use other of the support available to the Ghosts. The second being a ground drone called the M.U.L.E. The Mule carries equipment & ammo allowing the player to change weapons whenever he is close to the M.U.L.E. In the demo the player will be able to get a Counter Snipe Weapon that will allow them to snipe enemies from a far distance and even take out enemies hidden behind thin surfaces including thin walls. The M.U.L.E. can also be used as mobile cover, which can be very useful in this kind of wide open environment. Last but not least the player can take direct control of the MULE through the Cross com 2.0 Command Full View & drive the mule to either recon the terrain and spot enemies or even to distract them by attracting their attention to the MULE.
The last support the player will get is his team of ghost that he can control directly and very precisely thanks to the cross com 2.0 and the Command Full View system. While you can’t take control of the Ghosts you can order them very accurately when seeing through their mounted camera. While the first part of the demo is requiring a stealthy recon approach the end of the mission will be very tense as the enemy tries to use a mortar barrage to prevent you from attacking their camp. In this situation the Command Full View will be very useful to precisely direct your team-mates to the best suited cover, approach the enemy using tactical flanks, or order them to attack priority targets.
The demo ends when the Mexican forces are getting reinforcement brought by helicopter putting the player in a very difficult situation.
For the demo purpose the difficulty has been adapted versus the final game. The final game will propose 3 difficulty settings providing an enjoyable experience for any type of gamers. Also some hints & tips are made available in the demo to make it easier to play. The level design has also been adapted to provide a more diverse gradual experience. This demo only hints at a small part of the whole GRAW2 experience. See the game footage videos available to get a bigger picture of what GRAW2 will be.
Who needs Live Arcade Wednesdays when demos as good as this hit the scene?

Anyone have details of the actual demo itself yet? Is it single or multiplayer, and what level?

Thanks Pinkeye, I’ve updated the news with that information.
I’ve now played it too, it is very short but it does leave you wanting more which in theory is the aim of any demo.
Great! after the 1.2 gig crackdown demo now this .6 gig download…. ARGGGGHHHH where’s my larger HD???? after GRAW2 demo I’m gonna have maybe a gig left….time to move my soundtracks to flashdrive
just gone through the demo for the 3rd time, looks like Ubisoft have done a really good job, fixing alot of the problems with the first GRAW, looks like a goodun’
WE WANT WORMS WE WANT WORMS
You need to stop fucking breathing.
T.W.A.T
downloaded it, played for a couple of minutes, got bored, switched it off.
This sucks Rainbow Six Vegas is still miles better, although I quite like Advanced Warfighter when that first came out, this seems graphically inferior and overall my review would be that this game was just another eagerly anticipated shooter that fell flat on it’s face and overall is wank, although i’m sure multiplayer will be better, but still not as good as vegas
I wouldn’t go as far as saying “eagerly anticipated”. I was not anyway. Looks just like GRAW to me.
R6:Vegas is average. But average sells best. Ubisoft know this better than most publishers. GRAW looks better than Vegas(not hard to) but what will the multiplayer look like?
As long as there is the cover system in MP then it’s better than GRAW.
I think the graphics look great, miles better than Graw IMO.. It just looks a lot more alive, the demo was short but very sweet! Now bring on the MP demo and give us SP quality graphics with that!
Hey - did they fix the freakin vsync?
I HATED (and still hate) vsync being off.
WTF is vsync?
Vertical Synchronisation
As I cna’t be bothered to explain, read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_sync
senor soggy dunno wut your talking about rainbow sucks its to slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww and this game looks great in HD rainbow looked horrible in multiplayer with the dummed down graphics.
GRAW had dumbed down graphics in MP also. Ubisoft has an issue with making MP look like SP. Graw, SCDA, R6, and w/e else they are going to make. Hopefully, in time, they will do something about that.
The MP graphics on GRAW didn’t bother me, it was the lack of a cover system that swung on me tits.
I wanna take all the bandwidth (not much…)I can have
Seems v-sync is better now, but I still saw some tearing. But hey it’s a game.
I second the WORMS comment. Fukc GRAW 2. We’ve got enough 1st/3rd person shooters on the market… gimme something ORIGINAL!
Worms, Original, Eh? Surely retro?
I love the the demo, I can’t wait till the game hits. I can’t wait to hear the custom features in multiplayer.
