Resident Evil 5 won’t be coming in 2007
In news that isn’t actually that surprising, Resident Evil 5 has been delayed until 2008, according to Japanese magazine Famitsu. Capcom have their reasons, handily translated after the jump.
According to the translation:
Capcom came to a conclusion this week in the magazine Famitsu 360 about Resident Evil 5 in preparation about PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. According to the Japanese firm, the development of Resident Evil 5 should take more time than envisaged well that those hope to be able to show new things in the current of the year.
Basically, Capcom came to a conclusion about the 360 and PS3 versions in Famitsu this week. Capcom have realised that the game actually requires more work than they had envisaged, and they hope to show us, the public, new things from the game this year.
New things will hopefully include some lovely new screenshots, as well as some rather scary footage of the game, highlighting all the improvements over the already-excellent Resident Evil 4.

What would it have to do twith the PS3? Capcom are notoriuosly slow re: Resi. Good Resi 5 > Quick Resi 5.
I know without a shadow of a doubt that this game is being pushed back because the developement for the b$3 version will take longer than expected and its supposed to be a simultaneous launch on both systems. Not to mention that this is a high profile franchise that undoubtedly will be used to compare the the two graphically so capcom has to make sure the gaystation version looks almost as good as the 360 before Fony goes bankrupt in the fallout.

This really isn’t much of a delay, especially when I have a OXM mag from early 2006 stating this news already. It’ll come when it does. Until then, there’s always Alan Wake and Alone in the Dark to look forward to in the survival horror genre.
