Ron Perlman aboard Hellboy game and more

As expected, Konami made their official announcement that they have secured actor Ron Perlman to reprise his role for the Hellboy video game due Fall 2007. Along with the casting announcement, Konami divulged a bit of information regarding what we can expect from Hellboy and his Right Hand of Doom in the Xbox 360 version of the game.

For those unfamiliar with Konami’s Hellboy game, it is based on the acclaimed comic book series by Mike Mignola from Dark Horse Comics. The comic itself focuses on the demon known as “Anung Un Rama” who was unleashed onto Earth during World War II by Nazi occultists where he was saved by American troops. Under the guidance of Professor Bruttenholm, he was trained by the United States’ Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense with the alias of “Hellboy” where he now fights crime against the strange and the evil.

Hellboy video game

The game begins with Hellboy uncovering a diabolical plot for world domination and must rush to defeat the crazed Hermann von Klempt before he can exert his evil will on a hapless world. Players will utilize Hellboy’s large pistol (”The Samaritan”) and his supernatural strength to smash, crush and demolish their way through over six unique environments that boast fully destructible environments - or join up with a friend in online co-op, selecting from Hellboy, Abe Sapien, or Liz Sherman.

Though the voice actors for Hellboy’s comrades have yet to be cast - Ron Perlman, the actor who played Hellboy in the movie adaptation of the comic book series is no stranger to video game voice acting. In fact, this will be the second title he has worked on for the Xbox 360 alone; the other being The Outfit. Previously, he lent his voice to many other popular games including Halo 2, Justice League Heroes, and The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. Although his casting was far from unexpected, it is very pleasing to know we can expect an excellent portrayal of the Hellboy character in the upcoming game.

While still very early in the game’s development, what we have seen shows promise. Konami has displayed a level of commitment and interest in the franchise that could ultimately spurn a worthwhile game. Hellboy slams into the Xbox 360, PS3, and PSP later this year during Fall. Until then, enjoy this brand new clip from the game:

Hellboy is such a great movie, I hope the game does it any justice at all….(just the way I see it)

Looks great. Can’t wait for this.

I think the game actually looks pretty good.
Not the most gorgeous looking game, but it looks fun.
Here is a dirty little secret:
There are gamers who look forward to traditional non-ground breaking games that happen to be based on really interesting worlds(comic books, movies, etc).

If it’s decent(7/10), I’ll buy it, because I like Hellboy. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it doesn’t have to be beautiful, it just has to be fun…
It’s working for Nintendo, it will work for other markets.

the video makes the game look terrible…seriously so many last gen games coming out on 360. how many times have we seen crap like that before? walk around..simple little combos, bit hordes of little things. the graphics wernt even that nice if you ask me. could easily have come out on ps2 and xbox. might aswel be another port *rolls eyes*

at least there are good games being released too, not just this crap. if games were always based on terrible movies with stupid names i dont think i’d ever play them. and yes, this is a shiny xbox 1 game.

most likely, i’d still rather play N3 though, even though none of these beat em ups or whatever they are are my style

Make the xbox version BC with the 360 and I will add this one to my list

There will be no Xbox version. 360, PS3, and PSP only.
