Halo 3 Alpha: more leakage
Prepare to get very excited once again if you just can’t get enough of Halo; new shots from the Alpha of Halo 3 have been leaked online, but this time you can actually see something, unlike the rather dodgy mobile phone capture we have seen before. There are seven of them right after the jump.
As you can see, there are new icons over the head of players, but whether this is to do with Alpha, or whether it will be in the final game, remains to be seen. You might also notice a slightly concave look to the images; this is deliberate. Apparently, since you are looking through a visor, this is what you would naturally see if you were to actually wear a visor. Therefore it should make the game generally that bit more realistic (overlooking the weapons of course). For those wondering about the blacked out lines: I’d assume it was the player’s GamerTag. Wouldn’t want Bungie or Microsoft to know who was leaking them would we!
The Non Disclosure Agreement (where Bungie and Microsoft stated that no footage of the game was to be recorded on any medium) has been breached time and again by those lucky enough to test out the Alpha, and there is very little Bungie or Microsoft can do. Bear in mind the Alpha hasn’t gone out to too many people yet stilll footage is leaked, it will be interesting to see if the NDA stays with the Beta. There will probably be millions playing the Beta, which makes it highly unlikely only those playing will see what is going on. Let’s hope MS and Bungie have the sense not to bother saying “please don’t take pictures or recordings of the Beta”, because you just know that everyone will.

I dunno about that foliage… Any sort of next-gen grass should have fancy grass particles protruding from the ground. I find ‘flat grassy landscapes’ to look really last-gen.
the real world doesnt look last gen either, maybe with a HDMI output it will.
I’m not sure if I agree with the “concave” look to it. However, the environments remind me a lot of Halo: CE, which is good.
It looks like they restored the field of view to halo ce dimensions. Maybe thats just wishful thinking.

the gun in the last pic looks like the battle rifle. its kind of a suprise to see the halo 1 sniper rifle up there…hopefully they’ve put both in there.

It probably won’t look as good as gears online but halo will have double the number of players, vehicles, ships and a lot else happening.

About as much as you but *common sense* not your best characteristic will tell you with sixteen people on screen all throwing grenades, shooting ,driving whatever plus the larger maps will almost definitely see a reduction in the graphics. If you’ve played many games before on the 360 you’ll see that is the norm.
I’d rather have all the action & big maps with more players than graphics better than Gears’…
I really wonder what the final game will look like, I mean some of the shots from “et tu brute” weren’t that bad, I’d be happy with all the effects on, better textures & more polishing
Gears of War still looks better…
I prefer Halo to GoW but there’s no denying that GoW looked much better further back in its development stage. So stop saying this is only alpha because its March next month and H3 will be released Nov probably. Halo 2 with sharper visuals and particle effects. Anymore and I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Well that’s what the problem is… everyone is all GAH GAH… over Halo 3 beta when it doesn’t really look that good even in alpha stage, and all the game is; is Halo 2 with new maps and new guns… What they should do with Halo 3 to seperate is have dismemberment like GOW where you shoot a spartan with the laser and he explodes into pieces… other than that… halo 3 is going to be boring… if halo 3 is anything remotely like halo 2 then they just wasted 5 years to make this game… they have to go bigger and better or they will fail… ps… your all noobs and I own all of you.
