New Lost Planet maps: lots of info

Capcom has announced they will release 7 new Lost Planet maps over the next few months. They will release the maps slowly over a long time frame. The first map pack will include 2 maps called “Radar Field” and “Island 902″. It’ll cost you 400 MS Points and will be available around the 9th of March.

The maps are described in the official press release as following:

“Radar Field” is a close quarters facility which is under construction and has a giant radar that provides a peak vantage point and “Island 902″ is a sprawling Pacific-themed battlefield with several islands connected by bridges as well as vast underwater areas.

Since some of the current Lost Planet maps are quite large, and those who aren’t (ie. Pirate Fortress) are played a lot because they’re really nice in design, I think 400 MS Points is really worth it.

Some of you who bought the Collectors Edition bought it because of the exclusive Multiplayer Map called “Battlefield” which was supposed to be available somewhere this summer to all Lost Planet owners. Well, there’s good news for those who don’t own the CE: Capcom has decided to release the map as well as the other 2 Map Packs somewhere in the months ahead.

With the news of the pricing and the release date of the first map pack, we also found a video on the Internet including short footage of the maps described above:

Lost Planet ‘New Maps’ teaser.

The map “Radar Field” is clearly seen between 20 seconds and 30 seconds in the movie. They also show quite a few island based maps after that, but since the “Island 902″ is supposed to be massive, these could also be shots of one large map. The part with the submarine looks especially cool. Will we get a completely underwater based map?

Thnx to nofear360 for submitting the link to the teaser video.

If they are going to charge us for 2 maps each time though it could start to get rather expensive , 400 points a few times over is, as far as i am concerned, expensive and trying to sneak in a few extra quid for there bank balance. Not impressed with charging for maps like this at all.

I have NO problem with 400 per. I think it’s well worth that. (just the way I see it)

What a joke.
They are gonna charge for maps when they have made such a huge profit for this game already.
That is ridicuous.

It’s called business. Good business to be exact. Look into it sometime. Sorry, All jokes aside, It takes plenty of time and talent to produce such content. And time and talent cost big bucks in the video game world. Anyone who loves LP as much as me (and there are plenty) will gladly spend a few dollars on this content. Can’t wait for it. And Capcom know’s this. That’s where the business part comes in.
C’mon, Really, It’s only a few hundred MS points for what promises to be Killer new maps. Right? (just the way I see it)

A few hundred MS points each time soon adds up, whats 7 maps going to cost £10-12, which when i paid only £39.99 for the game means for roughly 25% of the original cost i can get a few more maps. For all i know they could be shit, as some of the original multiplayer maps are terrible, well each to there own i guess. I just think they should release a few freebies first before they start charging money so soon after i brought the game.

I’ll agree a couple free maps would be nice to get things rolling ,So to speak. But it won’t change my mind on paying for whatever they put out for us.
