First PGR4 car confirmed: what the Flux?

You may remember way back that a Peugeot competition all but confirmed that Project Gotham Racing 4 development was well under way. The competition in question was to design a concept car. The winner would have his or her car put into the game as a car that players could drive, obviously. Well the winner has now been announced, and after the jump you will see just how cool the “Flux” looks.

Flux was created by Mr. Mihai Panaitescu, 20, who studies design at the I.E.D. Turin. He had this to add:

My intention was to design a vehicle that pleases it’s occupants in every way.
It’s versatility combined with it’s sportiness and the ability to use it in different environments are in my opinion some of the vehicle’s strong points.

Either as an explorer of sandy beaches, sweeping mountain roads, or simply commuting in the city, the Flux concept embodies a vehicle that is made to please.
It’s dynamic shape and open air cockpit make it lively and fun to drive as the occupants are always in contact with their surroundings.

The name Flux was inspired by the continuous change and flow of our daily lives during work and play.
The shape also represents this flow with transitions through hard and smooth lines, between straight and curved all of which are characteristics of Peugeot.
A relatively small car (3500cm long by 1650cm wide), it runs on a slim hydrogen power plant hidden in the back along with the tank mounted under the front bonnet.
The hood and side body panels are made from plastic, polyurethane for the seats and aluminium for the mechanical parts.
The main components such as the chassis and head protection are metal.
Made up of simple body work (basic intersected volumes) the car is easily produced and accessible to everyone but most of all, it’s fun to drive.

Adding to this, the car is also a gaming hub thanks to the integrated Xbox 360 so P.L.E.A.S.E. hop in!!!

He really should have ended that with “Jump In” for the ultimate nod towards Xbox 360, but including the gaming console within the car is a nice idea. The car looks pretty awesome though, and is also being built to the exact measurements given by the designer at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, something to keep your eye on then.

Let’s just hope the 360 has enough ventilation and doesn’t get the three red lights at the Motor Show, that would be embarrassing.

Thanks nofear360 for submitting.

It will be cool to see the finished concept model, and could easily cool the 360 with its air conditioning system, blowing into the back of the console. I did not see a panel to display a game on though, sup with that? where does the 108″ LCD pop out of? Holographic windshield?

With you on that one.

Bought PGR3 on release day in the UK and it’s the only game I still have from back then, and it still gets played due to it’s amazing abilty to cause arguments within seconds of starting.

PGR1 was the reason I bought the Xbox, PGR3 the reason I bought my 360. Can’t wait for PGR4, Can’t wait to see what Bizarre can make the 360 do now they’ve had it going on 2 years.

Oooh, sexy car. Can’t wait for this one :D

Nice an integrated 360, but where in hell is the screen :p

I thought the “flux” in the title was a clever link to my favourite car of all time, the DeLorean. How wrong I was.

Haha sorry to mislead you!

I checked out the car you refer to though and that is one sweet car. Only six thousand left, I’d love to get my hands on one! Though my bet is they are very, very expensive!

DeLorean on Wiki

Back to the Future?! As cars apparently they suck to drive and had build qualities that made even the crappiest American car seem sturdy and robust.
Ah but then ITS a Delorian….and even broken down on the hard shoulder you’re gonna look Ice.

Okay, now tell me this wouldn’t be cool. I want to be able to unlock this car, hop in, and then play Geometry Wars on a heads-up display pasted up on the windshield. After all, if there’s an XBox 360 built into the car, I should be able to do something with it, right?

This would be even cooler. It should be able to access any XBLA games you have on your hard drive and let you play them from inside the car. Or better yet, let someone else playing on a second controller play the XBLA game while you drive.

Maybe Peugeot should of got someone to design a car that might of stood a 1/100000000 chance of getting built, what a load of bollox that thing would be in the real world.

My intention was to design a vehicle that pleases it’s occupants in every way.
It’s versatility combined with it’s sportiness and the ability to use it in different environments are in my opinion some of the vehicle’s strong points.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA thats the biggest spool of shit you will ever hear, he should of added as long as it doesn’t rain.

It’s dynamic shape and open air cockpit make it lively and fun to drive as the occupants are always in contact with their surroundings.

Yeah everyone takes their vehicle onto the beach regularly, plus Dynamic shape yeah sure dynamic waste of space more like.

Sorry Rant over. I hate shit concept cars like this.
