Battlestations content coming soon
Is Battlestations getting a little old? Don’t worry, IGN has the scoop on the first round of downloadable content due out in March for a price of 600 MS points. The pack will include a new multiplayer map, a new single player mission, and five new vehicles.
The new single player mission is based around the Operation Hailstone in which the Americans inflicted terrible losses on the Japanese at Truk. The mission is broken into four phases and focuses mainly on air combat.
Truk concentrates a lot more on dogfighting, something that’s easy to ignore in our game,” David Bamberger, US Marketing Manager, Eidos said. “Later on, you get to the big carrier battles and the stuff you are used to.”
The new multiplayer map, Battle of Sibuyan Sea is a part of the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and precedes the two existing multiplayer maps Battle of Samar, and Battle Suriago Strait.
“Sibuyan features a big island chain, so you can use it for offense or defense,” Bamberger said. “There wasn’t a lot of action on ships during the war. You never saw your enemy and there wasn’t much battleship to battleship kind of warfare — except during the Battle of Leyte Gulf.”
The pack will also include five new units. On the US side, the P-38 will be joing the battle, alongside the 4th USS Iowa. The Japanese get their own two engine fighter to combat the P-38, the J1N Gekko, Japan’s first night fighter. Japanese naval forces will be bolstered with the addition of the Ko-hyotekiclass subs, the midget subs, as well as the Shimakaze super-destroyer. Even better news is that this should be the first in a series of download content packs.
“I’m most excited about the new community of Battlestations: Midway players out there and we want them to know that we are in it for the long haul,” Bamberger said. “In the next few months even more battles are in the works.”
While new content is always nice, having to spend 600 points, or about 7.50$, every other month to get the full experience from a game isn’t. How much are you willing to spend?

Cool. Need to Buy Microsoft Points.
You are never a “little old” to “battle” in my “station” baby.
