GRAW 2 - Multiplayer Demo now available

Content and news for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 has been coming our way thick and fast and now perhaps the final piece of the jigsaw leading up to the game’s release is upon us in the form of a multiplayer demo. With the demo being expected, we’ve decided to throw in some information on the games built in clan support for good measure.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 - Multiplayer Map

The multiplayer demo is available to Xbox Live Gold members in all regions and here is the description from Xbox Live Marketplace detailing the demo and its contents: Demo the Outpost map with 16 players, new game modes, and a coop mission. Experience 8 new MP maps and a 6 mission campaign.

Those of you who haven’t been keeping up to date with our coverage of Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, be sure to check out some of the early details, screenshots and last months single player demo.

Thanks to Teamxbox, we can bring you details of GRAW 2’s built in clan support. Speaking to Christian Allen, Creative Director on GRAW 2, Teamxbox obtained the following information:

  • Teamxbox: Why wasn’t there any clan support in the first GRAW?

Christian Allen: Due to the early life cycle of the Xbox 360, there was not the same support for Clans that was built into the original Xbox. We couldn’t bring over the system from GR2 because of this, and the development schedule eventually forced us to cut clan support in favor of other features, such as the customizable game mode system.

  • Teamxbox: Was clan support one of the first things you discussed when planning the sequel?

Christian Allen: It was right on top of the list. After reviewing the fan feedback from GRAW MP players, and playing a lot on Live, my top three items for GRAW2 MP were Clans, Female Characters, and Spawn Camping. Of course we have a lot more features than that, but I’m happy that each of those items are addressed in the GRAW 2.

  • Teamxbox: What games did you look at when figuring out the features you wanted to include?

Christian Allen: We looked at pretty much everything we could find. We had done a clan system on Ghost Recon before in GR2, but it had a lot of problems with UI flow and other issues, so we decided to start from scratch on GRAW2.

  • Teamxbox: How many players can be in a single clan? Can you be in multiple clans?

Christian Allen: Up to 100 people can be in an individual Clan. You can only be in one Clan at a time. Pick a side and stick with it!

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 - Clan Support
  • Teamxbox: How easy will it be to meet up with members of your clan in a game?

Christian Allen: Easy. You can go into Clan matches, and there is a “Find my Clan” button, and it will find games your Clan members are playing in, or any matches that have been set up challenging your Clan.

  • Teamxbox: Will there be clan-only matches?

Christian Allen: Yes. Clan matches are set up as a separate set of matches, different from Player and Ranked games. You can create “Open” Clan matches, where any other Clan can join and challenge you, or “Closed” matches, where you challenge a specific Clan.

  • Teamxbox: How will you be able to differentiate your clan from others? Can you create emblems or anything like that?

Christian Allen: Aside from the name, you can create a Clan logo using a system with a range of options, as well as choosing your Clan’s favorite camo pattern.

  • Teamxbox: How is the clan leadership going to work? Will there be different ranks in the clan?

Christian Allen: There are three tiers of rank inside a clan. The clan Creator is a Captain, and he or she as the power to invite players and to promote Clan members to Officers. Officers have the power to invite new Clan members.

Clan support is a more than welcome addition and something that fans of the game will be eager to utilise. With the game set to be released in the US on March 6th and Europe on March 9th, watch out for the Xboxic clan as we’ll be seeing you on the battlefield!

they say they asked fans what they wanted…and nearly every fan asked for a multiplayer cover sytem…but did they put it in…? NO! seriously…the most important part and they missed it…a multiplayer cover system would imporve online GRAW gameplay so damn much…why UBIsoft…WHY?!

i was just gonna write the same thing, they said they looked at other games sucesses, must just have missed Gears and R6!:( still great but where’s the cover!?!!?!

it is disgustingly stupid how they make rainbow online with cover…so they know 1 they can do it, 2 it works well…so why not GRAW? why do it with one of your games and not another?

I haven’t tried the MP demo yet, but if there is no cover system, then I’m definitely not buying the game. The SP demo was pretty much identical to the original, and no cover system is just a poor oversight.

Might give it a try, but I don’t really like GRAW. The interface is too weird…

Looks a little better than the original, not to impressed, but it looks like campers delight. I just can not wait for a kid to shoot me hiding in a bush or under a rock. get out the marshmallows amd graham crackers, smores anyone?

No cover in MP? Ugh.
Still considering, 9% now.

no cover system is a joke

yeah sux can’t defend yourself 4 shit

I can’t figure out for the world why everyone is wetting their pants over a cover system. The Ghost Recon series has never had one up until GRAW’s singleplayer and I for one don’t think they need one. You cowards want regenerating health too? What are you gonna take cover against out in a forest anyway…a bush, a tree??? Stop complaining and stick to cover-camping in Gears and Vegas. God forbid they make another shooter that doesnt have cover ever again…I dont know what I would do with myself.

Yeah becuase cover just isn’t important in war is it.

Tactically the best thing to do is run right into the middle of an open field to allow everyone to have a clean shot at you.

So it never had one until GRAW’s SP. your point being? We never had HD capability on the consoles until the 360 does that mean they shouldn’t bother making anymore games in HD? The point is, it improved the SP no end, it is already in Gow and Rainbow Six and the addition gives the game more realism and adds a more tactical element to the gameplay so becuase of all the people asking for it and all the other types of games benefiting from it it is just fucking stupid not to include it and becuase of that one reason this has just fallen right off my wish list. I’ll stick to RS and GoW now thanks.

Comment by Worms on 2007-02-27 20:45:38 | Reply

There’s no chainsaws either? What a waste. I bet there’s not railguns either then.

multiplayer split screen is regoddamndiculous. Why can’t they have the same over the shoulder view as in single player online. I

Comment by Leaderz0rz on 2007-02-27 19:43:09 | Reply

I don’t care about it when your out in the open but when your forced to go inside it would be a plus. I just think peaking over a wall is a little more realistic then standing up and then going prone then standing up again..maybe its just me.

Comment by Jasonic on 2007-02-27 20:14:49 | Reply

It’s not like they have cover and you don’t. What’s the big deal?

Actually this is good stuff. Since I only rented GRAW 1 I think this is a purchase.

Comment by naib naiberson on 2007-02-28 00:02:09 | Reply

Um.. there is a cover system.

RB button toggles side, LB starts the lean. Only difference is you don’t “stick” to the wall. I for one am glad for that.

1. I don’t swing that way, but each to their own and all that.

2. If I did swing that way I am good looking enough that I wouldn’t need to go to Surrey for it.

3. Surrey sucks ass (which is good, because it appears you do too)

4. Why does anyone care?
