Comments on: DDR DLC on Day 1

Just wanted to add this:

It has 65 songs to start with. That’s like 4 CDs of musics and a dance pad. For $80 US. I’m starting to think that you guys would complain if it was released with 120 songs and had some unlock keys for 10 more. If you get mad at anything, it should be that you can’t use your old dance pads with it (if they were released on USB like xbox) and you have to buy the bundle if you already own DDR and like 8 dance mats. They could offer a converter for sale so you could us old xbox mats.

It has been said before, while a game is being tested and certified, game companies have their artist work on new stuff since they can now offer stuff like this that they COULDN’T DO BEFORE on PS. Don’t worry, some DDR fan will most likely post the songs somewhere on the net, but you should be happy they are allowing you to extend the game at all without just putting the 10 new songs in a rehash next year (companies have done so before).

I wasn’t going to buy this game anyway (not a DDR fan) but this stunt has given me the motivation to inform as many people as possible about the unethical nature of this practice. I will go OUT OF MY WAY to make sure that people who are interested in this game know that they are not getting the full game and try to convince them not to buy it.

Well, the songs are made in house, and most, if not all of these songs have been in previous versions of the games. This is a rip, and can be seen a mile off.

I was just defending this over on MajorNelson’s blog but now seeing that it is in fact unlock codes and not songs, forget it. I could care less about paying 100 points a song, that’s fair if you consider 80 points = a dollar = price on most download services for an MP3. Add in that it’s a 360 game so it’s likely surround sound and also that it’s a playable level (likely on multiple difficulties) that’s a deal for the extra 25 cents.

I can only hope GH2’s already-announced first-day DLC will be CONTENT and not an unlocker. I don’t want to have to direct my rage at my favorite game in recent memory.

I can’t believe they are doing this on purpose. It must be a glitch in the programming on the retail disc and they are fixing it with DLC to be sure we enjoy the full game. They are charging for DLC to cover only the expense of fixing it.

I guess it is another febuary glitch for Konami:

Can’t blame the manufacturers for trying though. But in cases like this we really do have the power to stop this by boycotting the product or by buying it on a different platform.
