Armored Core 4 demo available [Update]

As revealed very early this morning, Armored Core 4 has now been put up on the Marketplace as a downloadable demo. The uncertainty surrounding the demo was as to which regions the demo would be available in. It is now time to fire up your Japanese accounts I’m afraid.

Major Nelson has revealed that the demo, for now at least, is Japan only:

  • Name: ARMORED CORE 4 (アーマード・コア 4)
  • Price: Free
  • Availability: Japan only
  • Dash Details: 3ミッションéŠã¹ã‚‹ä½“験版

I presume the Dash Details roughly translates to “Download the demo now”. Having created a Japanese account, I can tell you that the demo will eat up 789.82 MB of your Hard Drive. I’m in the process of downloading now, and the post will be updated the moment we find out if the demo is region free or not. The demo is also available to Silver members, as well as Gold.

Update: The demo is fully playable on consoles outside of Japan. The game features a tutorial and three missions from the single player campaign. Unfortunuately the only English words for the controls are LB and RB, without an English explanation, meaning the tutorial is pointless unless you are fluent in Japanese. Just press every button to see what happens! Post below what you think of the demo.

Hurry up Microsoft with my replacement console!

I really really hope Capcom makes Steel Battalion for 360.

Make a Jap account and download it. The account probably won’t last long but you should be able to get AC4. My Xbox is broken so no demo for me.

Testing testing 123

Just press every button to see what happens!

I do that when the game’s in English. Going to download now…

Ah Japanese accounts. Ruining Microsofts strange staggered demo release plans since 2005. ;)

Speaking of which, maybe MS started making some demos available to gold users only to cut down on this sort of thing…

no they made gold onlys as an incentive to gold members to get things earlier its more reason for that 4$ a month subscripton lol

and their “strange staggered” releases are not strange, its called availability of localized verisons, they dont want japanese text and voice on usa downloads, and also they have to assure their demo is proper for each market ratings wise, or they would get into issues….

cant wait to see a review of them demo someone hurry up and do one i hope its funner and faster pace than chromehounds.

But the fact we download them anyway proves we want them… Surely they should accomadate for that?

so is this demo any good? better than chromehounds?

Dash details actually read “3-mission playable demo” :D Ok but I got the point

Purchase +1. Stop making me spend money, Microsoft.

I played it for about 10 minutes. It seems good, but I think the presentation is still a little bland. For me, the game didn’t have a great feel. I would prefer to be close to the mech, or just be first person, the camera angle made me feel like a spectator.
