Battlestations: Midway DLC delayed
The downloadable content for Battlestations: Midway that was supposed to be released today has been delayed unfortunately. According to IGN, Eidos has announced that the pack has been delayed until the end of the month due to “technical issues”. On the bright side of things, if it’s really about technical issues, at least they found out in time something was wrong with the DLC in contrary to Treyarch who screwed up badly with the Call of Duty 3 map pack.
The 600 MS Points costing add-on pack includes a new multiplayer map, a new single player mission, and five new vehicles for you to drive.
The new single player mission is based around the Operation Hailstone in which the Americans inflicted terrible losses on the Japanese at Truk. The mission is broken into four phases and focuses mainly on air combat.
The new multiplayer map, Battle of Sibuyan Sea is a part of the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and precedes the two existing multiplayer maps Battle of Samar, and Battle Suriago Strait.
The pack will also include five new units. On the US side, the P-38 will be joing the battle, alongside the 4th USS Iowa. The Japanese get their own two engine fighter to combat the P-38, the J1N Gekko, Japan’s first night fighter. Japanese naval forces will be bolstered with the addition of the Ko-hyotekiclass subs, the midget subs, as well as the Shimakaze super-destroyer.
Personally I don’t really believe Eidos when they’re saying the content has been delayed due to technical reasons because we’re only talking about a little bit of extra content, not a patch. The Battlestations: Midway community is quite upset about how Eidos is handling the extra content. Before the game was released, there was a lot of content shown in promotional videos that didn’t make it into the game and is now being released as DLC. Many people are complaining about having to pay for it while the game sold pretty well and PC gamers might get it (or perhaps a little less content) for free. So what are they really up to? We don’t know exactly, but let’s hope they’re reconsidering their offer.
