Call of Duty 3 Gold Edition coming this month

Even though Call of Duty 3 isn’t out that long yet, a gold edition appeared on the Best Buy website. A gold edition wouldn’t be a gold edition if it didn’t have something extra to offer since the price of the game remains $59.99 USD. A bonus DVD packed with features and a token for a free map pack are included with this version.

More details haven’t been revealed so we’ll have to guess what’s on the DVD, perhaps something about the development of the game, or trailers? The free token for ‘a free map map’ is presumably the Valor map pack which was released a while ago and normally costs you 800 MS Points. In return you get 5 new multiplayer maps on which you can duke it out with a maximum of 24 players. On top of that you can always download the free bonus map “Champs” as well. Too bad they didn’t include the maps on the DVD, that would at least save you 167.96MB.

Call of Duty 3: Gold Edition thrusts you into the thrilling landscape of the second World War and gives you a bonus DVD packed with features and a token for a free map pack. This latest addition to the popular Call of Duty franchise features all-new close-quarters combat, environmental physics and a host of ways for you to take down your enemies. Vivid graphics immerse you into a realistic world, where special tactics must be employed against your enemy if you expect to forge a path to victory. Intense, team-based multiplayer options offer multiple-occupancy vehicle combat, so climb aboard a tank or Jeep with your friends and team up to take down the Nazi forces once and for all.

Once the gold edition hits the streets March 15th, it’s very likely the price of the regular version gets cut. For people who are only interested in the single player experience, that might be the better choice, depending on how much the price is cut.

it wouldnt save you any memory to put the maps on the dvd, you still have to install them. it’d only save memory if it was on the game disc itself.

If they put the maps on the dvd, they’re not on the dvd? WHuh?

He means in multiplayer mode, the game searches for the extra content on your harddrive and not on the games dvd. If they were on the dvd, it would save download time, but because of the way it searches for the valor maps they would need to be in the same Cod3 folder on your harddrive. Which is why it makes more sense to put a download token in.

i was thinking that it’s on the bonus dvd and you can’t have a game disc AND another dvd in at the same time

oh great they finally added the lobb…wait a minute !!! AAAAAAAAAAWWWW FUUUUUUUCCCK !!!

I’m kinda sorry I actually had to laugh about the part where you say: “..perhaps something about the development of the game..”
Development? Would love to see the faces that couldn’t deliver working code for that long :’)

But I would be lying if I told you that I’m not completely addicted to the game. Too bad I can only play in the weekends at the moment :(
