No cozy splitscreen action in Shadowrun
Those of you that were hoping to play FASA’s Shadowrun together with a friend, sharing the screen, in some splitscreen action are set up for disappointment. FASA’s Lead Program Manager ‘Kimona’ reported that there will be no splitting screens in Shadowrun due to time constraints. The announcement was made on the official Shadowrun forums after GamerAndy broke the news in his podcast.
“We wanted to do it and had a good deal of the work done for it already. But there was a lot of UI and testing work remaining. We decided to focus on making what we have even more polished and clean.”
We’re as bummed out as you are by the lack of the splitscreen option, missing a feature like this in a game that relies on team play as heavily as Shadowrun does just plain sucks. However, the ability to play versus PC gamers using Live Anywhere should make this game more interesting than the average online shooter and we’re definitely keeping our eyes on this one. Shadowrun is set for a release sometime this year.
Thanks so much for submitting nofear360!

I’m getting sick of this. Lost Planet and Crackdown were also games that could have benefitted from splitscreen.
wtf, Lost Planet too? Damn that’s stupid
I had two friends over, had one bring LP (he bought from the store, I pre-ordered) and we were all set to play, no dice. It’s also something my sister and I would enjoy playing against each other.
crackdown couldnt benefit from split screen cuz who wants to share a screen on a wide open city like that, all it does is cut down on the cell shaded sexyness.
1. Not necessarily in the open world, time trials would be good in split-screen
2. It’s not cell-shaded
I think I played split screen once when Xbox360 launched back on 11/22/05. No loss here. Isn’t this the game that you can also play PC players with also. That to me will be a milestone in itself.
By the way, I would hate to have to play against someone with a mouse and keyboard, If I do get this it would be on the PC all the way. W,A,S,D owns any console controller any day.
True to some extent, but for this game particularly, xboxic had an article: http://www.xboxic.com/news/2470 that says the 360 controller users owned the W,A,S,D Keyboard and mouse users.
boo! I might have bought it if it got good ratings & had split-screen, but I’ve had enough games with no local mutliplayer.
Sounds to me like split-screen is something that they’ll offer as a download in the future. If they’ve already done a good deal of work on it there’s no reason why they couldn’t. Also, Crackdown would not have worked in split-screen. It takes a whole hell of a lot of processing power to render a city that size and to render it twice on one screen would be an impossibility.
I really don’t care. All of my friends have 360’s and if they want to play at my house they have to bring theirs over. Coming from the PC gaming side I loathe splitscreen.
Right because I just love lugging my 360 and a TV to my friend’s house and finding a place to plug it in.
Iow (to use Curry’s phrase I finally deciphered the meaning of): wrong answer.
Wow! A game that relies on team work, and you leave out split screen? Not everyone has Live or play online. So, for them, what’s the point of owning this game?
