Shadowrun is currently undergoing Beta testing, as I’m sure many of you are aware since quite a few of you are testing the game as you read this. But for those not lucky enough to be included in the Beta, you might stand a chance of playing the game on Saturday 17th March, if you qualify for the type of gamer that the developers are looking for.

To qualify for the chance to play the game, you need to match the following criteria:

• Must be 18 years or older.

PC gamers

At least one of the following for any PC FPS:

• Have played at least one season in a CAL-M equivalent or higher division.
• Have played in a large international LAN tournament, such as the CPL, WCG, or WSVG and finished with at least one non-bye victory.

Console Gamers

At least one of the following for Halo 2:

• Rank 32 or higher on Live.
• Have played in a large LAN tournament, such as the WCG, WSVG, or MLG and finished with at least one non-bye victories.

The developers are certainly looking for the hardcore gamer, and not many will fit the requirements, especially when a maximum of 32 people can enter via the Halo 2 method. If you do qualify, you’ll need to send off the following details to a-mattwe@microsoft.com, with an email titled “MS Gamer Contact”:

• Your real name
• Your gamer name
• Your competitive game of choice
• Your email address
• A summary of competitive gaming experience

The more verifiable information you provide in your experience summary, the better. Information such as season records, web sites, tournament placing, and links to team rosters are ideal.

The event will run from 7:00PM to 11:00PM local time, and you will need to be in the vicinity of Microsoft’s Redmond campus where the game will be playable. If you do want to enter, I suggest you get a move on, before it’s too late!
