NPD always produce reliable stats, and this month they make for some interesting reading. While the 360 did outsell the PS3, Nintendo consoles beat the competition resoundingly well, with the Wii and DS coming first and second. After the jump, see who else beat the PS3 and 360.
Hardware sales for the month of February:
|Game Boy Advance||135,887|
Overall, all consoles have sold the following amount in the USA:
It’s interesting to see that despite the advantage of releasing early, the PSP has almost been overtaken already by the 360, something which may be a concern to Sony, especially when compared to how well the DS is selling. It’s nice to see that the original Xbox is still selling as well. Perhaps people are worried about the Backwards Compatability support stopping.
Crackdown managed to top the list of most bought game over February as well, coming in at 427,000 units sold. In comparison, Gears sold 119,000, finishing as the sixth most bought game for the month. Crackdown topped the Most Bought list for the 360, with Gears in second and Major League Baseball 2k7 in third.
Not a bad month for Microsoft then, who are showing a steady growth as we head towards the infamous drought known as Summer. We haven’t even reached the Halo 3 launch yet; that should make 360 figures rocket, along with GTA IV.
What do you make of the listings?
