DMC4 officially confirmed for 360
Rumours have been around for a while on whether or not Devil May Cry 4 will be going multi-platform. Thanks to a translated Japanese press statement from Capcom, it has been confirmed that the highly anticipated title will be launching for the Playstation 3, and now the Xbox 360 as well.
Unusually for a translated document, it reads rather well:
The latest iteration, “Devil May Cry 4″ will take advantage of each platform’s hardware strengths to achieve the most stunning visuals in the series to date, and the introduction of a mysterious new protagonist will keep the action fast and fresh. Even before its release, “Devil May Cry 4″ has been met with tremendous anticipation, as fans patiently endured long lines at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2006 for the chance to play the demo. “Devil May Cry 4″ will be released simultaneously for the PLAYSTATION®3 and Xbox 360™ platforms.
This will be another huge blow to the 360s main rival. DMC4 joins the queue of once-exclusive games that are now on the 360 too. Standing in front of DMC4 is Assassin’s Creed, Guitar Hero II and of course, Grand Theft Auto 4. Sony won’t be at all impressed with this news, however it might be simpler than you think.
With the low install base of PS3s compared to 360s in households, and the high price of making a game in HD, surround sound and all the other features, exclusives don’t look appealing to developers or publishers; it isn’t economically viable anymore. This is bad news for Sony, who in the past had a great line up of exclusive titles. However that line up is slowly depleting at a quickening rate, and there is nothing Sony can do. Capcom have also seen already how successful their games have been on the 360 in the form of Dead Rising and Lost Planet. Why wouldn’t they go multiplatform?!
It remains to be seen what differences will be in each version, and there will be countless comparative videos to get the “definitive verdict”. It will be interesting to see what the results are.
For now, there is no release date set, but we will let you know as soon as we hear anything.

Next up - Metal Gear Solid 4 and the cycle is complete. The only exclusives will be the in house games for this generation.
that’s what i’m hoping for - MGS4!! it’s a game i really want to play, and it’ll kill my friends last excuse for wanting a ps3…two birds with one stone.
I hope MSG4 is next, because then it’ll be the last reason I would want a ps3.

Well, I knew one of the two was coming to the 360 and figured that after Lost Planet and Dead Rising it would be DMC4.
I was going to buy a PS3 sometime in the next few months to replace the one I sold at launch. Well, this is just about the nail in the coffin. Sony had better get Killzone 2 to surpass Halo 3 (highly unlikely) and hope Final Fantasy and Metal Gear really bring down the house. No disrepect to Sony but I can’t see why anyone would buy this system at it’s current price as a gamer. Buy time the potential is realized most will have moved on.

Was pretty obvious after Capcom making such great comments about the 360 & making 2 million-selling exclusives for it!
It just gets better and better. If it’s any consolation for Sony, I’m going to go rent DMC 1, 2, and 3 for PS2 and play them in preparation (the spider from DMC 1 kicked my ass and I never avenged myself. Now I’ve got a reason to give the series an honest try).

Ouch… and another kick in the b@lls for Sony. I’m pretty sure that MGS4 will be released on multiple platforms, the Xbox had it’s fair share of MGS in the past. Not all is lost for Sony though; we’ll just have to wait for Tekken on the 360
then the PS3 has basically nothing apart from Gran Turismo & Lair
and Final Fantasy XIII
Well this is the third horseman in the battle. If the aforementioned MGS4 is released for 360 it will be the end of days for PS3… Biblical style!
MGS4 isn’t coming to 360. Kojima personally stated this last year. Dream on.
If Hideo wants to make real money he will change his mind. They change their minds ALL the time. That day WILL come. It probably won’t be a simultaneous release but there will be MGS4 for 360.

ya mgs is fun n all but i really want Killzone 2 for 360 cuz that was my favorite game for the ps2 except for the fact i got so good at it that when i played levels the guys dint load yet cuz i went thru it so fast ^_^
Well uhm since Killzone is developed by Guerrilla which is some 100% or so owned by Sony Computer Entertainment, chances of Killzone heading to the 360 are about as likely as Halo 3 being ported to PS3

So what your saying is they have been making games in low resolution in the past? Surround has also been available in games since the SNES, so no i dont think that effects exclusives either.
Before you say something as stupid as this again, think about it.
It costs a lot more to develop with such high expectations, especially graphics…it costs a lot to promote these games too, don’t forget about all the products they have to license like motion capturing, modelling, game’s engine and more.
Gears of War cost $10 Million to make, because Epic Games is very efficient, Lost Planet costed $20 Million!

It is good news to here about DMC4. As far as MGS4 (my only reason for considering a PS3 in the past), Kojima would only be limiting himself by making it a PS3 exclusive. The game will sell very well on PS3, no doubt about that, but to release it on 360 would just sell even better. It is obvious by now that we want MGS4… so there is no doubt that it will sell very well on both systems. Only time will tell what we 360 owners will get. Have faith guys
Metal Gear will come to the 360. Kojima’s words were “MGS4 will only be on the Playstation 3 so far ” And I also think tekken will be on the 360.
if i were microsoft, i’d use bill’s spare change he usually gives bums and buy sony. Then i’d fly over to japan and blow sony hq down and make them japs kneel before him and beg for their souls (and rice bowls) for not giving the 360 the chance it deserved.

Pfft… R&C: Total Destruction is FAR better then DMC4. When the 360 gets that THEN they will have something, till then the Ps3 will be getting one of the best looking games ever.
Have you forgotten that R&C is a 1st-party exclusive and DMC4 was a 3rd-party exclusive? Which means there no chances of Ratchet coming to the 360, just like Banjo Kazooie will never come out on PS3.
Damn its not looking good for sony they have lost all there exclusives e.g Assassins Creed, Grand theft auto 5,DMC 4. I was gna buy a ps3 this friday as its release is this friday in europe but i might not get 1 as all the top games are coming to the xbox 360 with better online facilities.
