Actually, I think that once you press the button, your footwork stops. Move first, hit later. I'm down to diving around 10% of the time now, mainly when I guess wrong as to the direction of the hit.

That's just silly. The people who complain about "diving" can't possibly understand or have played actual tennis. V.T.3 emulates the sport quite well. You have to anticipate your opponent and where to receive a returned ball. If you're diving constantly it means: 1) You're swinging at the ball too late and/or 2) your player is out of position. All you have to do is get your player behind the ball, not beside it, and the "diving" will decrease siginifcantly. Darting side to side gets you nowhere. Good player position on court and strategic positioning relative to the ball reaps dividends. And the demo was a tad difficult, but not impossible.

Yup. All diving, no skill. Basically you can win any match as Federer if you just stand at the net and alternately place shots into the far corners until your opponent falls over. Or dives.

I'm with Sidearm on this one.
Unless the full version is no less than 40,000x's more impressive than the demo, I think I'd rather have some kid kick me in the nuts for a couple hours than to play/buy this version of VT. (just the way I see it)

Q: How the F**K do you stop the diving everywhere?

A:Don't play this game.

Q:Why is there so much diving?

A:Diving is an essential part of tennis.

Q:How do you hit the ball correctly without diving?

A:You must time your shot to the nano-second or else you will dive. We didn't put in any other kind of "strech" or "lurch" animations. Maybe later for 400 points.

Thank you for your time!

I will be NOT playing this game this weekend. The demo was all I needed to see.

XBox 360 - Diving is for submarines.
