Four new games get release dates
The 13th April 2007 won’t be going down as ‘the most exciting day in gaming ever’, nor is it a close second or third. News seems to have taken a day off, and we are left to clutch at straws at things that could have potential, but upon investigation are just rumours. So here is another one! Blockbuster’s database has been updated with four new games, all of which are supposedly coming this year.
The four games are as follows (with the American date shown in italics):
- Crash Of The Titans - 10/05/2007
- Dark Messiah Of Might And Magic - 06/18/2007
- Riddick - 11/16/2007
- Strangle Hold Collectors Edition - 08/03/2007
Almost nothing is known about any of the four games mentioned above, which may seem surprising since their release dates aren’t really that far off. Time to speculate then.
Crash of the Titans could be a sports game, a game based on an old film, or something set back in the 1400s when two Kings collide. There really is nothing suggesting what this game could be at all.
Dark Messiah Of Might And Magic was originally released on the PC and was released towards the end of last year. This is actually an FPS, and so will feel quite at home along with the rest of the games swamping the genre on the 360. Assuming the game is the same as the PC version, it’s good news because the game was well received by the media.
Riddick seems to point towards a game based on the films that feature Vin Diesel playing a character named Riddick (or Richard B. Riddick for you movie buffs). There was a game named “The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay” based on a couple of films, and at the time there were rumours that a sequel was incoming. Perhaps we have just located it.
Stranglehold is no stranger. The only exciting thing here is the release date listed. There are trailers up on the Marketplace if you want to check out the game. The date itself is actually a Friday, when American games are usually released on a Tuesday.
Further checking of the dates shows that none of them are a Tuesday, begging the question as to just how accurate the Blockbuster listing is. We will let you know if anything becomes of all this.
Thanks to firebranded for submitting.

I was about to argue about this being a boring day if these had been, say, Katamari, but you’re right. Yawn.
STANGLEHOLD!
Yes!
Who is Roddick? Is that a typo I see?
Y’know, the tennis player…
…
…I’ll fix it.
Whoops. When I was writing the post I searched for info about the game, and for whatever reason I read it as Roddick and couldn’t figure out why only the tennis player was turning up!
Damn brain, it needs to be more alert!
This is the second hint that something big is happening with riddick… US OXM a few months back posted a rumor that there was a very good reason that Escape from butcher bay was not backwards compatible on 360 yet. something along the lines of
“you’ll see it on the 360 soon enough, but not how you would expect it.”
I assumed something related to XBLA… but with this news it could be a remake on 360 or possibly as bonus for new riddick game, like what far cry did on the 360.
The friday listing is our “Usual” recieve from distribution date,if we get them before then we can put them out. That’s all.
Accidently pressed submit,
It’s done that way since they ship them to distribution then distribution shops it to us.
Four most exciting days in videogames, ever:
Most: Launch of Halo 3
Second: Launch of Halo 2
Third: Launch of Halo 3 Beta
Fourth: Launch of Halo: CE
=)
Crash of the Titans might be a new Crash Bandicoot game (the movie was called Clash of the Titans).
“Riddick” nice I’m a fan of the films and TCoR:EFBB was one of the most underated games of the orginal xbox and was great game play
resounding meh.
Sweet, Dark Messiah. That was show combat in Oblivion should’ve been done.
Well, guess I was right about Crash of the Titans.
