Elite package spotted in the wild

Whoops, this wasn’t meant to happen so early. With the Elite being released on the 29th, it makes it well over a week away. However some clown from a Target store has sold an Elite system, and it is now available for early purchase on eBay. It seems legitimate as a receipt has also been shown alongside the factory sealed unit.

Microsoft won’t be happy that an Elite has been sold so early. One or two days for a game is bearable, but eight days before release is inexcusable. Target may have a lot to answer for should MS come knocking.

Place your bets now then, as the bidding is due to end this coming Saturday. If you want to check out the HDMI cable or you need more space urgently on your HDD, you know you need to bid high for this. You could of course just wait like any sane person would and pick one up for a cheaper price next week and save a few dollars.

Looks genuine enough

If you’re going to bid let us know. Just don’t put in fake bids, that would be terrible…

HAHA JAIL! dont talk such bollocks.

You dont go to jail for selling something early by accident. Maybe you should go to jail for being so thick.

well… idk… i doubt anyone would be that stupid… nor do i think that many stores would have them in yet. also that receipt seems to be deliberately blurred out at the important parts
and the picture of SKU and box number on the back seems sorta photo-shopped to me. I’d think MS would make a bigger deal out of it, and I also think target would too. companies can rack up some major fines selling products before their street date. i know that gamestop makes a big point in their training program to never, ever sell a product, generally a game though, before it’s street date. just seems all around fishy to me, but i suppose if someone got lucky or a target employee stealthed one out of there, then i guess more power to them. they’ll probably be able to buy 3-4 elites legit on the 29th when they officially launch from the profit he makes off some sucker who has to have it a week early to be “cooler” than the rest of us. i think you need to reevaluate yourself and your definition of what’s cool if you ever get to that point. reminds of the people who payed anywhere from 1,000 to 10k to get a PS3 the day after launch and now you can get them easily, and they aren’t even worth having yet (or at all IMO) because it only has one decent game, that i personally didn’t find that great either. oh well. eBay makes me cry for the state of humanity sometimes. damn you eBay. now you’ve got me all depressed now. i need to go watch some lovely HD television via my 360 to cheer up. w00t! just thinking about it makes me feel better already!

and this sucks and that is no good either and I know someone whos better and my dog is nicer than yours and my dad could beat up your dad and i think that by rambling on and on i make my point clearer, but instead all I do is look like a complaining little child and I still think its no good because I’ve reevaluated myself but not my definition of whats cool.
I need to go watch some black and white old stock film on my 8mm reel projector. wOOt, I feel better already.

ok dick of the century award goes to mass9. dude chill out. show my once where i complained or sounded overly childish? and at the end i was just talking out loud because i just got streaming to work for my 360, something i thought i wasnt gonna be able to do with my current network setup so i was stoked.

what goes around comes around dude. if you wanna be a cynical little bitch about everything, then expect to get the same in return. youre the one who comes off as childish for posting an insult to someone for no reason and not even posting something related to the article. good job. i feel dumb for even taking the time to respond to you, and it’s somewhat rhetorical on my part, but people need to tell you to stfu sometimes.

oh and regarding the box, since that would be a pretty damn good photo shop job. i would guess that it is likely a display box, or promotional box that in all likely hood did in deed come from a target. someone check the ebay page carefully to see if he’s just trying to sell the box. i know that people do stuff like that a lot around the launch of big items. people are so in a frenzy they bid on anything, and then they just pay for an empty system box because the poster craftily, or not so craftily sometimes, words the ad description so that they make it known (albeit usually cryptic) that they are just selling the box and not the actual item. a guy got sued for it, but he was acquitted because the ad description did make it reasonably clear that he was only selling the box and the not the ps2 (i think that’s what it was.) but it spawned a whole bunch of copiers since then, so you gotta be careful. especially when it’s something so unique or ahead of schedule like this. anyways that’s my two cents.

“nerd fucks”

Does that mean that I fuck nerds or nerds fuck me, I need some clarification.

what about this entire thing would make us nerdy? i certainly would consider myself nerdy, but what about this bothers you really? dont expect this to be a nerd free zone dumbass. youre looking at and posting on a site that is completely dedicated to video games, specifically one platfrom of video games at that, so if anyone’s a fucker it’s you dude. god, there are a bunch of douche bags on here lately.

fuck sex, that kid wont get in trouble cuz target was the company to sell it to him

Comment by Pastyman72 on 2007-04-19 15:24:45 | Reply

I run a retail store - I could get put together some Elite POS (of which empty boxes are one item), place the till in training mode and produce a sales receipt right now that would “prove” that I’d bought one!

This proves nothing!

Comment by mass9 on 2007-04-19 15:41:57 | Reply

so what are you on here for????
go on, make a few reciepts, put up the auctions, watch the $ roll in and frig off to the Bahamas before anyone notices.

Why is it so hard to believe that this is real? Have you ever been to a target? Sometimes the guy working might know his shit…. but half the time it’s a 35 year old lady who may or may not be pregnant. You ask them for the latest Tom Clancy game and they tell you to try the book section.
And it’s not just Target… Best Buy, Circuit City… their all the same.
It’s just a job to them… not a career.
But I don’t mean to knock them… I like shopping there…. can’t beat the prices… just don’t rely on them for information.

Comment by SneakySnake on 2007-04-19 20:39:12 | Reply

very true. as consumer you should always try to know your shit about what your buying before you go into buy it. some places are better than others, like home depot for instance, the staff is usually incredibly knowledgeable, but most places that is not the case. they either will sell you something crappy because neither of you know any better, or they sell you the most expensive version just to get a higher commission. it’s the classic sleazy salesman technique.

i find that fry’s electronics is the worst. its all a bunch of high school drop outs half the time, that are the kind of dumb nerds who want to be popular but can, but they refuse to become friends with the real nerds who would most likely accept him into their group. thus he knows nothing of nerdiness that one would need working at an electronic, appliance and computer component store. one time i was next to a salesman trying to sell this guy who was buying a video card for his work computer and the salesman was convincing him he needed this 350$ card to run word, IE, and the occasional movie. i swooped in and saved that man some major coinage. he gave 15 bucks for helping him save about $275.

anyways mass9 will probably flame the preceding ramble-age, but meh… ive already said my piece to him in that regard.
