Codemasters announced 3 new games in the works for 2008 yesterday. Operation Flashpoint 2, Race Driver One, and Rise of the Argonauts are all in development for “leading consoles” and the PC. Details on each after the jump.
Operation Flashpoint 2 returns with the same modern tactical shooter action that the first game offered back in 2001. The game will be built on the FPS variant of Neon, Codemasters own proprietary engine. Codemasters says that the game will offer a multitude of military disciplines, and “warfare more realistic and intense then ever before”. Additionally, the game will include an extensive multiplayer component that will “create battles on an incredible scale”.
Race Driver One is the next game in the TOCA series, and will also be built on an updated version of the Neon engine. The game will take players from Europe to Japan, the US, and beyond. The game will also combine official circuit championships with road races, and urban street competitions. The release states that the Neon engine will “be expanded to deliver a new level of visual detail, physics and an astonishing car damage system.”
Rise of the Argonauts is an “epic” action-RPG set in ancient Greece. The game will combine exploration with epic quests and will allow players to lead a team of iconic warrirors, Jason, Hercules and Atalanta, through brutal combat. Check back for more info on all three titles in the coming months.
