Call me a hater ( I have halo 1 and 2 btw) but this just seems like “high rez halo 2″ or “updated texture halo2″, or in other words, halo 2.5 for 360.

I just dont see anything that gets me any more excited about the game over other fps games.

Did anyone notice that at around 6:18 in, you can see instead of the sword being in that little ditch in the fan there is a blue sphere. I think that its the deployable grav lift. Any thoughts?

Caller me a hater as well. Looks like hi-rez Halo 2 to me. I enjoy Halo but this one seems not much different that what I played on my XBOX. It will be fun just looking at this video but I sure hope they have much more to offer than this. I await for the final game for judgement. Not much to see here…keep it moving.

dumb guys. Even though they are trying to hide their identity, you can still find it. When it shows who kills who, it shows their name.

If stat tracking was enabled on this, I imagine Bungie could track who this is. Along with the other player names in the game, all they need to do is check the routes the player travelled and they’ll find out who leaked the video.

Seriously… Halo 2.5? I’m going to have to go with Halo 1.75, personally. It’s not that the graphics aren’t next gen- they are looking pretty snazzy, and I’m sure they will get better (so no need to call me an “omg u retard!”). It’s just that the gameplay remains nearly identical… Seriously, there are what… Two and a half new weapons, and STILL most of what people actually do is rifle or running them over in the Warthog.

also count the x button, the new grenades, the new limit on grenades, the changes in the auto aim, the visible secondary weapons?
you dont think any of that will have an effect on gameplay? even a little bit? not even including new weapons and vehicles

Hey morons, first off its beta, second off, its EARLY Beta. If you look at the way the Mongoose moves through the water, the water splashes with small plane textures. The water described on the Bungie Weekly update has WAKES. As they’ve stated before, most of the stuff seen in the Beta is all Placeholder graphics, textures, lighting, you name it. Lets wait until the final product to bitch at it.

this is actually a great clip. halo 3 looks awesome a couplea points.

1- shut up, its beta, beta’s are for testing out how well gameplay works, not the graphics.
2- the music is not ingame music… although it would be hilarious if it was, it would be quite the juxtaposition to the game

Maybe this video shouldn’t have been leaked, they’re still obviously working on it. Maybe all those people screaming that they’re HD TV gives the same graphical quality on the previous version should ram said tv where the sun don’t shine.
Yes I agree the game play is a little too like the others and that weapons could be suped up.

Ohfergadsakes, people buy Halo for the story about as much as they went to see Sin City for the rich colors and moral dilemma. If I hear one more person yammer on about some great plot in a video game, I’m going to yack. Look, video games provide a fantastic structure to convey an alternate sense of place, time, and being, but they really aren’t that great for telling a story. There’s nothing wrong with liking the FF series, or any other game with an over-rated “story”, but when it comes down to it, Halo is about being mister chef and ruining a bunch of aliens. Compelling components (conflict of interest in a pseudo narrative, detalied baddies) are added to give depth of world, but you really shouldn’t try to prop something you like by comparing it to something it isn’t. Video games can be beautiful, but let them be beautiful in their own terms.

We’ll have to wait until the 16th when us “not-so-special-average-joes” get our chance to have a turn. By then im sure we’ll find a bunch of BETA leaks online. What with the XP Media Center PCs-to-360 functionality, I won’t be surprised.

Oh yeah, uhmm.. My comment about the video… Hmmm. I would have loved to see more uses of the Spartan Laser and Brute Spiker. ‘Shame he got fragged seconds after gaining each one.

I’d just like to say that I agree with some of you on a few points. Yes, it is BETA, and is not representative of the final product IN GRAPHICAL FORM. Seriously, how many of you have actually played a beta release of a game before? Probably not that many, but that apparently doesn’t stop you from acting like you know what the feck you’re talking about. Beta builds show almost exactly what the core gameplay will be like, barring a few textural and other graphical tweaks as well as maybe damage/hit detection and movement animations, but that’s about it. That said, the beta build looks, dare I say, like this game should be called Halo 2.5. Ok, they may add a few weapons and vehicles, but really, that doesn’t make any real significant changes to the core gameplay. The shield grenade is cool in concept, but really, it just boils down to a mobile wall that doesn’t last forever. However, there are two sides to games like this, multiplayer and singleplayer. Seeing as multiplayer is shaping up to be a Halo2 clone with “additions”, lets examine the singleplayer aspect. To start, Ohfergadsakes makes a valid argument about story telling in video games. For the most part, yes, it is rather bland, cliche, and not very well executed, but there are a few exceptions (Halo and Final Fantasy NOT being among them). However, in these rare cases, the games story telling prowess is achieved only because a very, very talented game design team and that the games story itself was written by an accomplished author. For example, Half-Life’s story was written by Mark Laidlaw, a published author with more than a few best sellers under his belt. Halo 1 all but achieved that level of story telling, but Halo 2 was, if I may, uninspired. All this aside, we’ll all have to wait for the final build to make any real assesments of the game. That said, if Halo 2 was any indication of Bungies ability to make a compelling single player experience, we may be in for a rather sizable let down, but who knows.

not really impressed, they made it high def, added the vehicles they were going to in halo 2. thats all they’ve done so far from what i’ve saw. the in game elements looked just as stiff and retarded as the first two. Honestly, i would much rather melt by brain by playing final fantasy(dont even get me started).

Still looks glitchy… Looks really good. Can’t wait at all. THe sniper looks clearer when zoomed in. I’m Canadian.
