Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare confirmed
Known for its World War II prowess, the Call of Duty series will branch away from its former setting to pursue a more modern gameplay environment. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was officially announced by Activision today and will be developed by Infinity Ward, which also developed the first and second titles in the series.
The fourth Call of Duty will be revealed through a trailer this weekend during ESPN’s coverage of the NFL draft at 1pm EST on Saturday (as hinted at earlier this week). Although Activision has yet to announce any further details about the premise of the game, rumors suggest that gamers can play as the US Marines, Army, and Britain’s Special Air Service throughout Europe and the Middle-East.
Activision has also yet to confirm which platforms the game will appear on: rumors hint at Xbox 360, PC, and PS3 releases. These details will likely be revealed this Saturday, however.

Yeah, I totally agree. COD2 was much better than COD3. Had a far more natural feel in the gameplay and controls. Nice to see them getting away from the WWII setting. That has been done to DEATH.
yeah i agree on the wwii thing. the only thing is that the weapons then seem so much louder and violent than modern weapons with silencers and stuff. i want carnage!!!
I totally disagree. We have more than enough rubbish shooters. The WW2 thing is CoDs selling point. Nobody is waiting for another GRAW clone, and with CoD not doing WW2 anymore, who is going to give us our classic FPS? Personally I hate teh Torque Bow and the Hammer of Dawn. I’ll take an MP40 any time…

it was a joke…not meant to be intelligent..I couldnt remember the exact lines in reference to Jerries so i chose Panzerchreck instead.
it’s great, but they should add some “realistic” effects such as blood stains on the walls after a nice shot (like in R6) and it maybe will get on my must get list

This time I’ll hold off purchasing this right away until I’m happy that it’s online stuffs are sorted out. CoD3 was a messy shambles after launch and I don’t want to go through that again.

COD2 was a really good FPS, Activision did a good job on it. After the disappointment of COD3 all i could think was when are they going to launch the next COD title form Activision. Treyarch is a joke, the lobby system was a joke and the ranked match was a joke.
As a single player game, I thought CoD3 was superb and equally as good as CoD2. It had bugs all over the place though, when I reviewed it I stated that minutes into playing the title, I kept getting stuck on ingame objects.
It’s multiplayer aspect had massive potential, but it took ages to sort out, and that hurt the game hugely. Given that CoD2 & 3 have had online issues from launch, i’ll wait to see how 4 turns out.
I agree with Darren, single player was awesome in 3 but the multiplayer was an abomination. The absence of lobbies was inexcusable after the fiasco with CoD 2 (which turned out great after the patch). Now that Infinity ward is back at the helm and if they keep the controls like part 2 this game will be beyond awesome. So glad they got out of world War II.

A decent, controllable, invitable and having time to pick game type lobbies makes the game better to play, people don’t want lobbies for “chatting”!
I wonder how the story will progress? what “modern war” will they be following? or will they just make up conflicts like the Mexican-Hating Tom Clancy?
im quite disapointed the series is going down the modern warfare road…. The 360 is swamped with modern shooters GRAW 1&2 RB6 & Battlefield and only looks like getting more swamped fuels of war etc.
Infinity ward will make a great game just not sure the new setting will interest me!!

CoD2 and CoD3 were equal in the single player mode although in cod3 they could have gone into more depth. it wasnt long before i was ready for the next misson when i found out the game had ended. The online experence is much beter in cod2. in cod3 it was cool to have rooms of 24 players but at times it would just lag and wasnt much fun…….. i will wait to purchase cod4 but i am glad it is by the creators of cod2 and not cod3

COD4… Hope It has better weapons, no bugs and glitches, longer missions (not like COD3) better online play, better games (not like capture the flag), maybe optional chat with both teams.
More bothered about other games like Halo 3, Super Smash Bros Brawl.

i dont like the fact that you get put in a game you dont want and ur on the losing side and if you quit it counts as a loss on your record even if you just get there at the end of the game and your team lost
i dont like how it puts you in the mid of a game and your team is losing 180-0 and it counts as a loss
