Blue Dragon 2 could be a MMO game

Blue Dragon isn’t even out on English speaking shores yet but, as is common with this fast-moving industry, a second iteration is already planned and being thought about in much detail. Mistwalker president and Blue Dragon producer Hironobu Sakaguchi has already spoken on his vision for the series.

In an interview with Japanese site Gpara, Mr. Sakaguchi apparently said the following:

We’re in talks with Microsoft about development of a sequel. Specifics aren’t finalized, but there’s a possibility that it will be produced as an online title

The Japanese love their MMOs (well, Final Fantasy XI at least), so this could certainly be a worthy investment for both sides. It remains to be seen as to whether anything comes to fruition from this, but it could work, since the original Blue Dragon has been well-received in Japan.

Yes, this was a queue for a 360 game, in Japan!

Would you enjoy a MMO set in the Blue Dragon universe?

It’d be better, if they just stuck to singleplayer. JRPG’s are meant to be played offline godammit! :P

Man, they need to stop this shit. First game isnt even in America yet and their talking sequel. The industry is moving just alittle to fast with this one. It also doesnt do good to talk about a sequel that is potentially better than the first when we havent got a chance to play it. As much as I wanna play Blue Dragon I’m already looking past this to the next one. I cant wait for the first great MMO on the 360 and this sounds like it could be it.

They would only do this if they want the Japanese public to purchase 360’s as its a stinker system over there.

But MMo’s belong on the PC, they just dont go over to well on the console market, and extra fees on top of the Xbox live fee is another hurdle people go nuts about.

Just a few things, but its atleast 2-3 years away for us, and I doubt it will forsee a future with American gamers.

MMOs belong on as many platforms as they can get to, especially consoles. Just because you don’t like the idea doesn’t mean it should limit other users. If I don’t like racing games, does that mean it doesn’t belong on a console? this is a legitimate example because if you loved MMOs, you’d be ok with them on the console.

The extra fees are not a big deal and if they are, guess what?!? you got it, don’t play!! nobody is stuffing this down your throat. A lot of people may think renting movies on Xbox Live is too expensive, especially coupled with the Xbox Live gold membership, to those people, I say, don’t rent movies !! don’t suggest none of us will pay them little tiny fees because we nickle and dime ourselves.

I’m sure you have television with a “cable” system or a “satellite” system attached? that means you decided to pay more instead of using the free-rabbit-ears !! do you complain about paying for a service ? do you complain about Pay-per-view ? or suggest you should get pay-per-view for free ? or all the channels for the same price ? this is a perfect example of people bickering or not liking something and therefore wanting to make a decision for all of us based on their poor-financial status.

Get a job or work 3 hours of extra work a week, even at minimum wage, that’ll cover the extra cost of a MMO. Just don’t change my “subscriptions” based on your personal tastes.
