C&C 3 to be novelised

Why is it that computer games are beginning to spawn other media-related stuff? Halo got comics and other stuff, Assassin’s Creed is going to be made into a mini-movie as well as a book, and now Command and Conquer 3, a game thought to be just about the RTS, is being made into a novel.

The book will be published on the 29th May, and apparently the UK will actually receive this item in the months following. Germany will also receive the book, but no mention was made about other European countries. The novel will follow the storyline of the game, as you battle for control over the substance of Tiberium. The book will be written by Keith R. A. DeCandido, and EA have teamed up with Del Rey Books for the publishing side of things.

“We’re excited to expand the Command & Conquer franchise to a new form of media and offer a depth to the underlying fiction of the game series like never before,” said Patrick O’Brien, VP of Business Affairs at EA. “Keith DeCandido wrote a great story, and we’re pleased to have partnered with him and Del Rey.”

The demo for the 360 is available on the Marketplace now, with a 10th May release date. Who wants to read the action someone else has already created, when you can go and create it yourself and do it differently though?

Del Rey Books also have a Mass Effect book coming out. Check out their site for more.

Warcraft has novels. I haven’t read them, but there’s some diehard fans dedicated to the lore.

Halo books are good. They tell the story around the games. And you get to know indepth info.

halo apparently has quite a few books that add a lot to the storyline, though you dont really have to read them to know, they just add backstory and explain stuff. a few of my friends have read them and they think they are pretty good. the warcraft novels are pretty interesting too from what i gather, because the warcraft lore is so complex and has so many characters that intertwine. if youre interested in the stories of things then i guess the books can be helpful. you forgot to mention that gears of war is supposed to become a movie at some point too, and for awhile halo and warcraft were supposed to become movies too, but i think those flopped.

I’ve read the Baldur’s Gate II novel. That sucked big time.
Usually those novels are written by aspiring authors, maybe this novel is written by a good one, though I’m not gonna put my money on that.
