Call of Duty 4 trailer hits the web

As promised before, today saw Infinity Ward, developer of the famous Call of Duty franchise, release something new. While it’s not quite comparable to a vaccin for yellow fever like they claimed, and we already knew it would be about upcoming title Call of Duty 4, the trailer we have here does look stunningly beautiful and promising.

Since absolutely no further information is available, we’ll leave it to you to gulp over the trailer and speculate below whether it’s all computer generated imagery or there’s also some in-game material in there actually.

Thanks go to Colby and nofear360 this time for submitting the news!

Looks a great trailer but no ingame footage (understandably at this stage) But i cant realy get exited over CGI that im pretty certain wont be reflected ingame. Nice way to get me exited about the game tho, sounds like it will be awsome.

What are you talking about? Thats all in game engine stuff..

Slightly better than COD3 graphics imo

There is no way that any of that is ‘in-game’ its all cut-scene footage, looks nice but we wont be controlling characteers that look that good.

dont worry lethal shadow. once modern warfare has been done to death WW2 will make a return

Comment by Some Random Guy on 2007-04-28 17:54:13 | Reply

but ww2 has been done so many many many times why does it have to return

Because the 80-year war just isn’t as fascinating and we only have a limited number of decent 20th century wars to base games on otherwise, and future warfare is already covered by games like Battlefield and Ghost Recon.

So basically you’re saying we need more wars? :P

War of the Tulip Fields. 2009. :)

Looks like it could be the best Call of Duty Yet…

Looks interesting - just hope it stays true to the Call Of Duty roots and doesn’t stray too far into the less accessible (and less fun) Ghost Recon territory.

Let’s also hope that multiplayer vehicles make it into the ‘modern’ mix!

could be an all time great or an all time flop.

Isn’t that true of all games?

hmm looks too much like battlefield & GRAW but I hope it’ll be a different sort of game

Looks great, not in game graphics, but definitelly game engine. Looks like a lot of russians will be killed though, taking into account russian background narration.

One thing I hope they’ll think about (or maybe already have) is making game not so linear as the previous two parts.

huh??

in game graphics = in game engine…

Do you mean in game as in seeing in first person?

Comment by Silencer on 2007-04-28 22:43:51 | Reply

Yep, we don’t see the interface, weapon models, but everything else is game engine, which look very nice.

I think the biggest challenge for Infinity Ward will be to maintain the actual gameplay that previous versions have put on the table. It will be interesting to see how they do this. Not quite sure how they will pull this one off, but I have high hopes that they do.

Why is there none WWI games, then?

Because WW1 was mostly fought in trenches in Belgium, which is a tad less exciting than the 1944 year with massive troop movements all over Europe, North Africa and S-E Asia.

trailer looks pretty cool, i dont think it will claim second to none tho

rainbow owns the shooter world. rainbow is the most realistic shooter to date. GRAW is too cartoony no realistic war, COD is realistic combat but for me up untill i play modern, the weaponry and gameplay is to “prehistoric” for me. i gotta stick to RAINBOW! AND THATS WHAT YALL NEED TO DO
