The galactica game brings an experience that is out of this world!

The Arcade double available

If you’re trapped at work or you perhaps haven’t fired up your 360 yet, then you will be delighted to know that yes, the Arcade games promised just Monday are now available. But, as ever with Microsoft, not everything has gone smoothly.

Settlers of Catan (now just Catan, which initially worried me as I scrolled down to ‘S’ and found nothing!) is the big game people have been excited about for weeks and are desperate to try. Unfortunately, some sort of bug was found in the Trial version of the game, and thus there is no Trial available at the moment. This problem doesn’t exist in the full version which is still available. The Trial version will be back up when the problem is ironed out.

Courtesy of Major Nelson:

  • Name: Catan
  • Price: 800 Points
  • Availability: Available in all Xbox Live regions
  • Dash Details: Single Player, Xbox LIVE Multiplayer 2-4, 5.1 Surround Sound, HD (High Definition). Catan, based on the best-selling board game “The Settlers of Catan,” puts you in the role of a colonist on a newly discovered imaginary island. Vie for control over the island’s territory and resources against computer gameplay that will challenge all skill levels — even the experts! Catan is addictive fun for all ages, taking just minutes to learn and a lifetime to master!
  • Size: 32.75 MB

‘Centipede & Millipede’ is (are?) also available with a Trial version. They both come together which is very generous of Microsoft and a pleasant change.

Courtesy of Major Nelson once more:

  • Name: CENTIPEDE / MILLIPEDE
  • Price: 400 Points
  • Availability: Not available in Japan or Korea
  • Dash Details: Single Player, HD (High Definition). In one of the most beloved arcade games of all times, players must destroy the Centipede as it moves faster and faster through a colorful mushroom field. Try your hand at this classic arcade game in its original form and completely re-stylized versions featuring evolved graphics and gameplay.

Are there any games that are worth the price M$ is charging us?? Just look at the damn Guitar Hero content, makes me sick.

These games are outstanding, but at the price they charge, they should be free.

Will you do work for free?

I was to purchase the board game of Settlers of Catan. That would have put me back $30, and I would not even have someone to play against 99% of the time. This is a bargain for a great game.

As for Millipede/Centipede combo, that is not that bad of a deal. Consider the cost the same as a movie rental, that will provide about 2 hours of enjoyment. I am sure I would enjoy these games for more than 2 hours.

I have about $50-$60 bucks worth of Carassone and a $30 Catan. My family plays them once in a while but I’ll definitely get a lot more use out of a $10 Catan and $10 Carcassone.

Yeah, Milipede is not worth 2 MS points which makes me sad because I enjoyed so much the game on Apple II.
And Catan, oh my I resisted buying it and manage to wait for the trial version. And the real board game is only 40€ so I really want to test the trial.

Catan is well worth $10 IMO. I bought it this morning, won my first game, and was late to work ;)

It’s just like the boardgame except you don’t have to round up 3 other people for a good game. Easy to play with a lot of strategy and the board changes everytime you play.

they also provide a lot of handy features that you cant have in a real game of catan like dice history, card summary, game history log, etc. some romantics might not like this because it takes a way something from the game at the same time, which i can understand and somewhat agree with, but i definitely still feel like im playing catan. good value for 10 bucks when you consider the real life price for the game. especially for the online which is fantastic IMO, there are always people to play with since the game is so popular and they didnt release the trial right away. the customization is nice and i imagine they will release some expansion type packages as DLC for further player control. the interface is pretty well done and easy to use. the living world feature is kind of cool, but not the greatest for serious play. the fact that each game takes awhile and it such a strategic affair means that you really talk a lot with your opponents, manipulating them or just chatting, and that has provided me with a lot of entertainment personally.

Didn’t get Catan…. Might read up on how to play it, I did get the longest road?! though. Maybe they should charge 200MP for games like Millipede.

They are, and 200MP for Centipede as well. Therefore, they are charging you 200 for each game :P
I remember playing the game on the Amstrad, but man, no loading for 5 minutes or so to get to play it now.

Its impossible to find a game online on Catan and Centipede/Millipede is complete shite.

I’ve had no trouble getting into online games.

Anyoen else on non-HDTV notice how ridiculously small all the text is? I can read it, but can imagine trouble for lots of people… especially the text that appears during trade with your opponents. No clue what that says…

I love how people whine so much. If you don’t like it don’t buy it. You’re just like the people that complain about violence in a game. If you don’t like it don’t play it.

Catan on Live is addicting! Can’t stop playing it. Will be better once everyone learns how to play quickly though.

I picked up Catan, but I also picked up Centipede/Millipede. The game is perfect for that “I have 5 minutes and do not want to think” time of day.
